Before you knew it, you were sprinting for your life, adrenaline surging through your circuits. Normally, when you dashed like this, exhaustion would set in quickly; your outdated programming drained your battery faster than usual. But fortune favored you today—your charges were still holding strong.
Suddenly, an ominous message blared across your screen: "Low battery."
In an instant, the world around you faded to black. The relentless notification flickered as you collapsed, surrendering to the darkness. Uzi, witnessing your peril, gritted her teeth and refused to let you slip away. In a burst of resolve, she yanked you off the ground, determination blazing in her eyes as she pulled you to safety.
You couldn't discern how long you had been unconscious, but a loud "BANG!" jolted you back to life. Sitting up abruptly, you instinctively prepared to scream at the sudden sound, but the overwhelming sensation of dizziness hit you like a wave, forcing you back down onto the cold floor. The sluggishness that overcame you was typical when you powered back on with dangerously low battery—something you weren't supposed to do at all. Your systems whirred, struggling to stabilize themselves.
"Ow," you groaned softly, your voice echoing slightly in the dimly lit space. Your gaze drifted to Uzi, who lay sprawled awkwardly against a nearby wall, looking disheveled yet determined.
With great effort, you began to drag yourself across the gritty floor, peeking cautiously from behind a stack of battered boxes that served as a makeshift cover. Your eyes landed on the disassembly drone that had once attacked you, accompanied by two of its menacing companions. The mechanical beings buzzed with tension, their voices a distorted cacophony that only added to the persistent ringing in your ears. It was nearly impossible to decipher their words through the haze of dizziness still fogging your mind.
Suddenly, one of the drones dropped lifelessly to the ground, its body clattering against the debris as the other remaining drone moved to follow the one that had spoken, leaving behind a tense silence in the air.
Uzi mustered her strength and scrambled up from her hiding spot, striding purposefully toward the fallen disassembly drone. You wanted to call out, to warn her, but your head felt impossibly heavy. With a Herculean effort, you lifted yourself slightly, your vision blurring as the world around you swirled. Just as quickly, your head drooped back down, and the familiar sensation of powering off washed over you once more, swallowing you into the comforting darkness.
You jolted awake just in time to see chaos unfolding around you. A wild panic surged through the air as a random worker drone screamed directly into your face, "Good, you're awake! Because WE'RE ABOUT TO DIE!"
Heart racing, you shot upright and were met with the intense sight of Uzi and the other disassembly drone locked in a fierce battle against two fearsome murder drones. Adrenaline pumping, you snatched up a random brick and hurled it at one of the foes.
"Ow! What was that for??" the murder drone whined, only to be brutally slammed into the ground by its opponent.
"Wrong one, idiot! He's on our side now!" Uzi shouted, her voice cutting through the commotion.
"What?? But he's a friggin' murder drone! He kills people—And did you just use a portable charger!?" You spun back to the random worker drone, who simply shrugged, totally unfazed by the madness around you.
One of the murder drones zoomed towards you and picked you up before throwing you into a wall. You heard a "CRACK" and felt a pain in your face, You realized you were in no shape to dive into the fray and decided to take a breather instead. Suddenly, a dazzling green light exploded across the battlefield, grabbing your attention.
In the blink of an eye, the chaos had subsided. You propped yourself up, shielding your eyes from the bright glow. To your surprise, you spotted Uzi deep in conversation with a worker drone before she erupted in frustration and stormed away.
"Let's move, N! Oh, and you too, Y/N!" she called out, her voice echoing with urgency. A moment later, her eyes landed on you still cradling your head. "I said, let's go! I'm trying to make a grand exit here!"
"I got her!" N declared triumphantly, scooping you up with one hand and falling into step behind Uzi.
"Hey, I can walk!" you protested, but your words were drowned out.
"Sure, but you're injured, and I want to help!" he replied, flashing a dazzling grin that you couldn't resist.
With that smile, how could you say no? The thrill of the moment pulsed through you as you were swept along on this unexpected adventure! Your original plan for today was to eat, sleep, and explore, but this works too.
