The Simple Act Chapter 1

Chapter 1

"Penny you have to try this on!" Squealed Alice. "It's totally you." Lauren agreed. I pulled the dress from alice's hand and ran to the dressing room. I felt the smooth cotton and slipped the dress over my head. My friends were right, it did look really good. The teal color of the dress really brought out my blue eyes. I looked down to face the price tag 75.00 I couldn't afford that, not right now. I quickly changed back into my regular everyday clothes and opened the dressing room door. I peeked out but my friends were no where to be found. I sighed and walked over the the rack of clothes nearest to me. Then I felt a warm breath on my neck, I turned around to face a boy. Its Bryan. He wrapped his hand around my waist and kissed my forehead lightly. "What's up babe?" He asked smiling. I couldn't help but blush. He reached for the dress I realized I was still holding and he went up to the counter. Slowly I followed unaware of what he was doing then, unexpectedly he paid for the dress and a beautiful gold locket. "A special gift, for my special lady." He said handing me the bag. I was speechless "thanks" I said giving him a kiss. We walked out I the store together holding hands. When we walked outside I saw Alice and Lauren waiting for me. "Sorry penn, but we had to get some yogart." Lauren said handing me a cup of vanilla cream. I laughed and took a big spoonful. "Did you get the dress?" Alice said motioning to the gift bag I was holding. "Yea, I did" I said smiling up at Bryan. "Lets get home" said Alice "its getting kind of late". We walked around the corner and all turned separate ways Bryan gave me one last kiss and turned away. I slowly walked home thinking about what would lay ahead for tomorrow.
