Frozen

A/N inspired by Little Women (my fav)

"You almost ready Taylor?!" Travis shouted from down the stairs, skates in hand.

The pair had decided that the weather was perfect to go and skate on the frozen lake, the one near their house. They had rented skates from the ice rink the previous day so they could have as much time as they wanted in the ice.

Neither of them were particularly good at skating, however both had been to the local rink when they were young and they thought it was the perfect winter date. They were just there to have a bit of fun, it was obvious they would be spending most of their time on their bums rather than their feet.

"Yep!" Taylor shouted, scrambling down the stairs. She pulled on her trainers and grabbed her skates, slinging them over her shoulder.

Taylor was wearing leggings and a hoodie, with a thick puffy coat over the top. She had on leg warmers and long socks ready for the skates, with her hair in two French braids and a woolly hat, a scarf and gloves to top it all off. Travis was similar with joggers and a hoodie, gloves, a scarf and a hat.

They set off hand in hand, ready for the fun to begin. Taylor squealed as she skidded on the black ice, grabbing into Travis's arm and erupting into a fit of giggles.
"Don't go falling now, we aren't even on the ice yet!" Travis laughed, wrapping his arm around her shoulder.

They arrived at the frozen lake not long after, setting their skates down on the bank. Travis turned to Taylor, wrapping his arms around her and squeezing tight.
"You feel like a marshmallow" he mumbled into her hair, making her giggle. She pulled away, pressing her lips to his.
"I love you" she whispered.
"I love you too" came the reply.

"Well, we'd better get our skates on" Travis nodded, turning away. They both sat down on the bank and pulled them on, lacing them up. Travis stood up first, holding his hands out to Taylor. She took them and he pulled her up, stumbling backwards a bit.

"You're staring" Taylor giggled, side eyeing Travis.
"You're just so adorable" he reached out and tugged her two plaits, making her swat his arm playfully.
"Youre so annoying" she pouted, but Travis just laughed. She held out her hand and Travis took it as they carefully made their way down towards the ice.
"Im gonna remember this forever" Taylor mumbled, grinning up at Travis with so much love in her eyes.

She was right, they would both remember this forever. But not for the reason they thought.

Travis stepped onto the ice, wobbling a bit but managing to steady himself. He held his hands out to Taylor and she took them, cautiously following him on. Once they were both balanced and ready they took off, skating a bit further into the middle.

Slow and steady they went, gripping eachothers hands tightly with the other stretched out for balance.
"Travis! I think we-" Taylor's sentence was cut off as she slipped, losing her footing and falling. She burst out laughing, throwing her head back as she skidded.
"Come here" Travis laughed, holding out his hands. Taylor took them graciously, carefully rising to her feet. However as soon as she was almost up she fell again, this time onto her front. Travis fell after her, her hand still gripping his.

The pair's laughter echoed throughout the trees as they slid in a heap across the ice. Travis rose to a kneeling position as Taylor got up to standing, using Travis's shoulder to steady herself. She helped Travis up once she was ready, and the pair continued their little skate.

It had been almost an hour, and the pair had fallen over at least ten times. And that was when it went down hill.

"Catch me if you can!" Travis shouted, skating off and leaving Taylor behind. She gasped, her face lighting up in a smile as she set of after him, slightly stumbling as she glided along.
