Enzo POV
The bright red words glow "MY CITY". I feel the corner of my lips twitch—a challenge. It's been a while since things have gotten, interesting. The last time I had fun on a kill was before I left Italy. When my father got information that one of the low-level men was sleeping with underage girls. I volunteered to handle the situation. I kept him breathing while I removed pieces of him, it was a difficult job but it could be done. I chuckle, that was a good day.
Montez sighs loudly and narrows his eyes "Don't do that with your face"
I grin "Do what"
"You like this" He points to his phone "This is not a game, you said we stay here for a couple of months - it's been longer than that by the way - find the rat and go back home"
"You were eager to leave" I deadpan
His phone rings before he can defend himself "Yes? Hold on" he looks at me "We can't use the same cleaners, My guy knows of one. Do you want to use them?" Cleaners are people we hire to clean up dead bodies. My family uses the same cleaners when we come to this city.
These new people I didn't vet them "It's risky," I say
"I know, we can trust my guy he wouldn't have offered otherwise"
Montez isn't a boss, but he does have a few trusted right-hand men that he selected to join the inner circle. We rely on them for particular tasks; they report directly to him.
"Fine. Give me the details, I will set it up"
Montez gives me the number. He says when I call an automated voice will answer and give this code word, he scribbles the words on a piece of paper.
"and that's it" he finishes. I dismiss him for the night.
I dialed the number, set the phone on my desk, and put it on speaker. A woman's voice answered, not an automated one. "Name, please?"
I examine the numbers I dialed confirming it's the right number.
"Lost Sheep," I say the code word that's written on the piece of paper.
The woman's voice comes through again "Wrong name" The line goes dead. She hung up. I stare at my phone in disbelief, clenching my fist to shut down the urge to toss my chair at the wall.
I call them again, same woman answers "Last chance. Name?"
She wants a name, fine. I take my phone off speaker, holding it to my ear "Enzo Giovanni. You should think twice before hanging up on me again"
The woman is silent for a minute "Wrong name"
"Get me your boss" I sneer "If you don't think, I can't find you on your voice alone you are mistaken. Boss. Now"
"Hold please"
Classical music starts playing on the line. I'm on hold. My grip tightens on my phone. Five minutes go by before a different voice an angelic one says my name "Mr. Giovanni. There's a process for new clients" Her tone is patronizing yet cold.
"How much" my tone matches hers.
She scoffs "It's not about money, I value security, and like I said it's a process. I'm sure you understand."
My frustration is growing, for an unknown reason so is my cock.
"You've done a background check by now, you know what I do what I'm capable of-"
She cuts me off "is that a threat Mr. Giovanni?" Her tone is light almost playful. My cock strains against my zipper, I shift in my chair.
How is she affecting me like this? "I require your service. No threats."
"Check your email," she says all playfulness gone.
Putting her on speaker, I opened the untitled document attached to the email and quickly read over its contents. I emailed her back with any necessary info that she needed to clean up the scene. At the end of the document, it says to verbally accept the terms. "I accept," I say. The document and email disappeared as if I never received them.
"we will be in touch Mr. Giovanni" She hangs up.
Her voice, there's something familiar about it but I can't place it.
