It was my first day back at work, six months since I had last acted in anything. My last film was a total flop due to poor script writing however due to my acting abilities I managed to score a role for a Netflix series that was due to go big, it was based on the Melendez family and their case.
As I flick through my lines as if I hadn't read them several times, the office door opens.
"Arabella, there you are" The producer whom I'd become familiar with over skype exits welcoming me with open arms and a wide smile, the joy within his voice made me eager to have the cameras roll. "Ryan oh my god, I'm so nervous"Exhale, inhale as I limit my adrenaline filling my body. "I'm sure you'll be just fine, follow my way so you can meet the cast"
As I follow his path sharing quick chatter, I'm finally greeted with the cast members. Roughly recognising them through group calls and group chats that had been made, until my eyes settle on the main actors. "You must be Nicholas" I say a friendly smile and hand out to shake as he stands ahead of me, buff with a tan to envy.
He smiles, big pearly whites showing "Oh yes I am" his firm grip continuing to shake my hand as he has my full attention. Until I saw him.
Casually sat back on a desk chair, reading through a thick script in his veiny hands. Eyeing me down with a cold stare, his eyes were almost killer. For a moment in time I forgot how ridiculous I looked to him, yet he smirked and when he smirked I felt my heartbeat race faster.
"And I'm Cooper" making his way towards us "You'll find he plays the annoying little brother but I promise he settles after you put a bit of whiskey in his bottle" Sharing a playful headlock with one another "You mean to say her boyfriend, seeing as you're 'Erik's high school sweetheart' right?"
I nod along, all casual confidence knocked back. "Which leads meee to tell you all we're shooting in an hour okay?" Ryan says passing us and back to the camera crew "well I better get to the makeup room then" I say awkwardly trying to separate myself "What are you doing. We all use the makeup room around here silly" Nicholas says grabbing my arm "Seriously toxic masculinity ended in 2019- wait what's your name?"
I giggle as we all start making our way "Oh Arabella but you can call me Bella" he nods along still maintaining his sassy manner "well listen belle we cut that 'oh men can't wear makeup bullshit wayyy long ago"
TIME SHIFT
After sitting in the makeup chair for sometime I began to instantly click with my fellow actors and actresses, Ari and Chloe in particular as they was already playing a motherly supportive role towards me. This place was judgement free, as the sounds of 80's classics play in the background to bring us a sense of the characters.
"So Bella, do you think you're comfortable doing this role?" Cooper says behind me, hands either sides of my chair with hazel eyes staring me down in the reflection. Already dressed in hot pants and a quarter zip. "Why wouldn't I be?" as my hairdresser brushes out a final big curl from my hair "You seem the timid kind" I scoff
Standing to my feet and giving the hair lady a thanking smile "Well you don't know me yet, do you" Walking past him and straight to the clothes rack, instantly hearing his sneakers follow behind me "No but I still can respect somebody's boundaries" I glance up at him
Our height difference playing a big part "Does that make you a hero?" He laughs "No I'm just saying, if I'm getting into character I'm going to do it properly" And as I go to give him a snappy reply I get interrupted
"Bella you need to be quick now you've got 15 minutes left"
"Bye bye Cooper" I say giving him a smile as he looks me up and down, he only fulls my excited more and more.
