Omniscient/ Taehyung's POV

The morning sunlight filtered through the wooden window pane, summoning me awake alongside the insistent beeping of my alarm clock. I groaned, rolling over to slap the alarm into silence, savouring those few lingering extra moments of warmth beneath the covers.

After lying in bed for an extra few seconds, I swung my legs over the side of the bed and felt the coolness of the wooden floor panels beneath my feet.

I decided last night that evenings would be my best time to shower to avoid the morning rush of sharing a bathroom.

I pulled on my black, slim-fit pants and a blue collared shirt, the fabric gliding against my skin like a soft whisper.

Standing before the mirror by the doorway, I ran a comb through my hazelnut hair, the bristles gliding effortlessly as I swept strands away from my face.

As I stepped out of my bedroom, I glanced into Jimin's empty bedroom momentarily before I made my way toward the younger boys' rooms.

Beside the staircase, I could hear the hum of a hairdryer, presumably being used by the eldest Orphan, Jimin.

After waking up one room of boys, I brightly chimed "Good morning!" while pushing open the door to the second room where the sleepy boys lay.

With a quick flick of my wrist, I rang the small bell perched on the shelf, its soft chime awakening the remaining boys.

A laugh escaped me as one of the younger boys dashed into the room, tackling another who had just awakened, their gleeful chaos igniting the air with energy.

"Does anyone need to shower?" I asked, tousling the hair of the youngest child in the bedroom.

A nine-year-old in pyjamas raised his hand enthusiastically after sitting up in bed.

As he walked towards me, I asked for his name. It is in my best interest to learn all of the children's names today.

"Jeong," He said proudly as he bounded past me toward the bathroom, leaving me chuckling at his eagerness to bathe; Surprisingly, Jeong was able to enter the bathroom as Jimin must have left while I was waking up the first room of boys.

"Who's ready for breakfast?" I called out, scooping up the youngest, a boy no more than four, before carrying him down the staircase.

The other boys followed in a whirlwind of excitement, racing ahead of me, their laughter echoing in the halls as they ran towards the kitchen and dining area.

As we entered, I was greeted by the sight of the young girls eating breakfast while others darted around the dining table, the room filled with chaos from the hungry children.

But it was the kitchen that caught my eye.

There, with his back turned to me, stood a male a few inches shorter than me. He wore light denim jeans and a simple white T-shirt, the fabric contrasting beautifully with the soft golden ash of his hair.

My gaze lingered on the delicate curve of his cheeks, the anticipation of his profile in the distance captivating me.

I headed over to the kitchen area to greet him and see his appearance front on.

"Hey." I said simply, greeting the alluring male as he poured boiled water into a cup to prepare his tea.

"Hey," he replied, his voice soft and delicate as he turned to face me, his deep brown eyes widening in surprise.

Jimin had stunning peach-toned plump lips, and dimples forming on his cheeks as he softly smiled.

"You're younger than I expected," He remarked, a hint of astonishment in his voice as he took in my appearance.

"Oh, I don't mean for that to come across as rude." He stuttered, raising his dainty hand to his plump lower lip nervously.

"No worries," I chuckled, causing the male's demeanour to soften, "I was surprised too when I found out there'd be someone my age living here." I admitted.

As he resumed his attention to his tea, he added, "Well, I am grateful to still be here."

Before I could pry further into his comment, a small boy darted over to us, playfully slapping Jimin on the back and exclaiming, "Tag! You're it!"

Without hesitation, Jimin placed his cup of tea down and sprang into action.

Laughter bubbled out of the little boy as Jimin chased him, cornering him in the corner of the room with joyful determination.

I watched Jimin lift the child effortlessly, tossing him into a soft pile of cushions and bean bags that were left beside the entryway into the dining area in case the kids wanted to sit on one.

The boy's squeal of delight echoed in the room, and I couldn't help but smile at the sight.

Jimin exuded warmth, effortlessly slipping into the role of a protective older brother or parent to the children here. Jimin made his way back to the kitchen slowly as he checked in on the other kids he passed by.

Once he returned to the kitchen, grabbing his tea, he mumbled an apology, "Sorry about that." Before he observed me pouring some hot water into a coffee mug.

"No worries," I replied while stirring my coffee.

"Kids are always full of energy." I commented.

"Just wait until you give them sugar," Jimin chuckled while turning around to lean against the kitchen counter, his demeanour relaxing further.

"What is your name?" Jimin asked, his eyes scanning once more over me.

"Taehyung," I told him, my raspy voice cutting through the still air.

"Your name is Jimin, correct?" I asked and Jimin nodded after taking a mouthful of his tea.

"And you're my age, right?" Jimin asked, his curiosity piqued.

I nodded, and he continued, "What brings a twenty-year-old to an orphanage?"

"I needed a job, and I'm used to working with kids." I replied to the inquisitive male. I am not sure if he wanted me to say something more elaborate but he seemed at peace with my answer.

"Alright then." Jimin hummed, taking his cup of tea with him as he slipped out of the kitchen, leaving me with a lingering sense of fascination towards him.

His politeness wrapped around me like a warm blanket, but there was something deeper that caught my attention. He seemed shy and quiet yet curious, which captivated me.

It was safe to say that amidst the bustling chaos of the orphanage, I was looking forward to discovering more about Jimin because he truly seemed like the 'sweetest guy' that one of the girls claimed.
