Silence. That's what Nico heard whenever they were around Rose. Usually, the sound of nothing didn't appeal to Nico, because whenever it went silent, they were alone with their thoughts, the constant reminders of being mocked simply for their gender... it hurt to much to think about.
But with Rose, it was different. Rose was calming to be around.
Just then, Nico heard rose snoring on the kitchen table. Nico sighed as they took their jacket off and draped it around Rose.
"She really has to stop sleeping everywhere..." Nico spoke softly to themselves, sighing. Though it was a common occurrence, it still shocked Nico sometimes, the fact that she can sleep anywhere is truly incredible..
Just then, Nico heard Rose yawn.
"Haah... Nico? When'd you get here?"
"Uh, I've always been here..."
"Oh."
More silence. No one tried breaking it, especially after how awkward that just was. But it was nice.
"Nico?"
"Huh?"
"Your jacket, here." she handed it to them, a faint smile on her face. "You must've put it on my shoulders when I was napping. Thanks."
"Uh, no problem..."
Nico sat there, smiling, enjoying the silence once again.
