Clarah had just finished her last class of the day, and the mathematics and physics teacher had pushed her to her limits with a barrage of impossible calculations. All she craved at that moment was the comfort of her bed.

 Studying at Harvard University is not an easy task especially if you're not rich. Through hard work and perseverance, she earned a scholarship after becoming the top student in her final year of high school, all while balancing a part-time job. 

However, even with the scholarship, it fell short of covering all her living expenses.

Clarah didn't have the "perfect american life" like in the movies.As an only child, she faced the challenges of having an alcoholic mother and a father that was never present during most of her life. Because her existence was a mistake. 

Her mother used to sleep with her boss and as a result, here she was. An unwanted child.

The true is, eventhough her mother didn't want her, she had a good childhood, just a month after she was born, she was entrusted to her maternal grandmother, who claimed her daughter was too focused on her career to deal with "trivial things" like motherhood.

Granny Lu was Clarah's everything, it was her grandmother that saw her first steps and heard her first words...Her grandmother was more like a mother than her real mom. 

Growing up in a small town, Clarah cherished her days spent playing in her grandmother's backyard, coloring princesses in her books, and singing while helping her make apple pie.

"Granny do you think dragons existed? I read a book about a princess that flew on her dragon and saved a little girl!" Clarah looked at her grandmother with bright eyes. 

"Well, I'm not sure If they did exist in this world, but in you're little world..." Lucy touches her granddaughter's forehead "Even a purple rabbit is possible!". Clarah let a big smile escape.

When she turned 12, her granny ended up passing from a stroke. Clara's whole world collapsed... She went to live with her mother who was a stranger to her. This marked the beginning of a dark chapter in her life.

At just fourteen, Clara had to take on work to make ends meet, as her mother squandered their money on alcohol. Though she inherited a sum from her grandmother, she couldn't access it until she turned eighteen. 

In a way, she was fortunate...Her grandmother had stipulated that only her granddaughter would have control over the inheritance. Which made her mother hate her even more but Clarah didn't really care...

When she received the scholarship at 18 she felt free. Summer was finally over and she simply packed her bags and left for her new life. "A new beginning" she thought to herself. How many times had she dreamt of that day...

She found a small apartment relatively close to her university with the help of the money her grandmother left her but still continued working part-time in a coffee shop to earn something more to pay the rest of her expenses.
