Nathan
Pulling out my phone, I send a quick text to Sabrina, "Nice work today, I'll show you more moves next week at the same time."
I climb out of my car and head towards the diner my boss asked to meet me at.
Just as I enter inside the cool building, my phone chimes.
"Sounds good. Look forward to kicking your ass this time." Sabrina replies.
I grin down at the text before sliding my phone away.
"You wanted to see me?" I ask as I approach agent Wilson.
He sits on a bar stool by the counter with a white mug of coffee in his hand.
He turns his head to face me. "Yes. Have a seat."
I oblige and sit down next to him.
"We have a lead on the shadow killer. Another victim was murdered last night just outside the bar on Prince street. This time, he was sloppy, leaving behind a cigarette bud behind." His hoarse voice informs.
"Did we test for DNA." I ask as I prop myself up more.
The young lady behind the counter interrupts with a shy smile. "Coffee for you, sir?"
I grin at the brunette and reply, "No, thank you."
Her face turns red as she brushes a strand of hair behind her ear. "Okay, let me know if you need anything. My name is Amy."
"Thank you, Amy." I reply calmly.
She smiles down at the ground before walking away.
Wilson returns to the conversation. "We did. We were able to find a guy named Bryan Decker. He's been to prison for murder five years ago and is a local drug dealer."
"Sounds like our guy." I reply.
"He's meeting up with for a deal tonight on Thorton." He says, narrowing his dark eyes at me. Wrinkles form in the corners of his eyes. "I want you first on the scene."
"Not a problem." I respond.
"Good. Stay in touch." He begins to rise before I stop him.
"Hey, I need a favor." I ask.
He sits back down in his seat. "Okay, what do you need?"
"I'm dealing with this guy at the club. He's been harassing one of the girls there. The name is Keith. Think you could track him down for me?" I ask.
He pauses for a moment. "I'll see what I can do."
"I appreciate it." I respond.
. . .
I sit down at a lonely booth in the corner of the bar, looking over the file Wilson gave me of Bryan.
I sip my beer as I read his file, trying to make sense of all of this.
The Shadow Killer isn't sloppy. He's intelligent and never leaves any trace of evidence behind. Why would be stupid enough to abandon a cigarette bud of all things? Especially knowing DNA can be traced back to him. And why is he dealing drugs? This is a first hearing about any drug involvement with him. It just doesn't make sense.
Suddenly, a female voice interrupts my thoughts. "Hey, sexy, what are you doing here all alone?" She's got shiny black hair and piercing blue eyes. She wears a white cocktail dress with the body of a goddess.
"Working." I reply.
"Ooohh, I see. Maybe I can take your mind off of work for a minute or too." She purrs softly before biting her red lip.
