IT'S been weeks after the woodland spring feast and a sudden gloom, started to linger within the woodland realm, as if something bad was coming. Prince Legolas found himself rushing to his father's private meeting room one evening.

'Legolas?..' Thranduil greeted him as soon as he entered the room, brows meeting at the middle.

'Father..' Legolas answered. He looked at Thranduil with a serious look on his face. 'I come with important news father.'

Thranduil quickly scanned his son from the corner of his eye. Legolas looked a bit uneasy.

'I have received information from my fellow brothers from Rivendell. They have informed me that the scouts under Maldir's command have intercepted a message from Dol Guldur. It seems that they are planning an attack on Woodland Realm and the rest of the other realms as well. After Sauron's army destroyed Willowmere, they are planning to attack here next. And we have to be ready.' Legolas stated as he slowly became agitated. The atmosphere suddenly became tense.

Thranduil's cold expression lingered. 'Azog was killed and his army was destroyed in Willowmere, surely they don't have the force?' Thranduil inquired.

'They have regrouped father. They have a new commander and have increased their numbers. They will gather their forces soon and it seems that they have already called upon Easterlings to assist them in war against woodland realm.' Legolas responded.

Silence fell and it was as if a dark shadow had come over them all of a sudden, like a heavy burden.

'Father, Sauron wants to be king. He wants to take over all of the realms and outnumber our forces. He doesn't care about the forest itself so he will try and burn it.'

Thranduil felt shocked but he kept his cool demeanor. Something inside him always told him that, that day would come. He had always had that feeling that Sauron won't let the other realms just go on with life, peacefully. If Sauron didn't show mercy for the mortals, he wouldn't show mercy to the other beings of Middle Earth as well.

'Legolas, come with me to the border near Dol Guldur, we need to strengthen the enchantments on the forest. I will also be placing some defenses myself, specially on the river and the trees around the fortress. Tell Tauriel to gather her group and deploy all the soldiers around the borders, we need to be ready.' Thranduil spoke with such intensity, it made Legolas quiver.

AS Aeverie exits the library, after spending almost the whole day, drowning her mind with novels and poems just so she could calm her lingering thoughts of the elven king, she saw elven guards rushing about. She stood just by the door watching with awe as the elven guards rushed to what appears to be the main hall.

Aeverie craned her neck to see better and she saw the familiar form of her elven maid, Freya, rushing towards her. She stared at the beautiful elf with wide eyes.

'Princess! What are you doing here at the corridors?' Freya inquired, visibly shaken.

'What's with the elven guards rushing about Freya?' Aeverie asked, curious.

Freya hesitated but decided to tell her, after a moment of deliberation.

'Well, king Thranduil ordered the soldiers to spread all over the borders, they are preparing..' Freya started.

Aeverie eyes the elf questioningly. 'Preparing? For what?'

Freya's face filled with dread. 'For.. For a war princess...'

Aeverie gasped. A war? Is Sauron attacking this kingdom next? She haven't thought of that. And now she's more worried for the elven king more than ever.

'Where is king Thranduil?'

'He went out to the forest with Legolas and Tauriel. I heard, they are putting up enchantments and defenses around the forest.' Freya responded. She eyed the princess intently. The genuine worry she saw on the princess' face tugged at her heart.

'Will---will the kingdom be okay?'

'Don't worry princess... We will all be fine, king Thranduil will do everything he could for this kingdom. And prince Legolas is here too, so you have nothing to worry about.'

Aeverie bit her lip. 'Will king Thranduil----be okay?'

'Of course princess... king Thranduil is strong. And we need to be strong for him too.'

Aeverie gave out a weak smile.
