OVER the next few days, Thranduil focused his attention again on his realm and the war against Sauron. The growing threat of Dol Guldur was the most tangible shadow to lie over Mirkwood that time. The constant attacks, foul creatures invading the forest, the evil poisoning the land, they had to be annihilated first. He avoided seeing Aeverie around the kingdom, even going as far as to spending most of his time outside the palace and in the forest, with his son Legolas and his men. He didn't want any more of that same episode inside his private council room to ever happen again. So he did the most plausible thing to do, avoid her as much as he could and be completely stern around her as much as possible. He'd rather deal with the war than with her.
Thranduil was in his throne room when Tauriel entered. 'My lord.' Started his captain. 'My scouts have come with information from Dale, from king Bard himself.'
He looked at Tauriel with an aloof expression but he listened with interest. He had been close to Bard and the man was somehow close to him just like king Edric.
'The king of Dale wishes to inform you that they are also expecting an attack from the Easterlings very soon. He believes both Dale and Erebor will be the next first targets before Sauron's men attacks here in Woodland Realm.' Tauriel continued.
'I suppose if he takes Dale and Erebor first, all defences from the east will shatter and then we will be next. A strategic plan indeed..' Thranduil commented with a sarcastic smirk.
He said it calmly but his blue eyes were fierce and fixed on Tauriel.
'If this happens, we won't have enough men to fight with both Easterlings and Dol Guldur. Sauron knows this and he will play this card again, just like what he did in Willowmere. I reckoned he will go for revenge because of his defeat. But still, here in this kingdom, we will endure. Let king Bard know that we will be sending troops to Dale to aid them in war.' Thranduil continued.
Tauriel nodded in agreement.
'I need all other units, including yours and Legolas' to defend this land at the moment.'
'Yes my Lord.' Tauriel said, bowing her head and leaving the throne room.
Dale and Erebor... those kingdoms on those mountains... he hoped that they were strong enough to keep the Easterling attack at bay. They are all allies now and depending on each other for survival.
