The next day, the house buzzed with the joyful energy of Mr. and Mrs. Jeon, who couldn't hide their happiness at seeing Taehyung and Jin together. Taehyung would casually flirt with Jin, making both of them laugh while the parents beamed in approval.
"Where's Jungkook?" Jin suddenly asked, glancing toward Mrs. Jeon while still wrapped in Taehyung's arms.
Mrs. Jeon sighed with a smile. "That brat is still asleep, of course. He never lets anyone into his room, always locking himself away. You know how he is."
Jin hummed in response, his attention shifting back to Taehyung as he settled into the warmth of his embrace.
But upstairs, in the dark confines of his room, Jungkook was wide awake. His hair was messy, covering the dark circles beneath his red-rimmed eyes. Despite his exhausted appearance, he wore a wide smile—though if anyone could truly see, they'd know the smile masked an unbearable pain.
He stepped out of his room and quietly made his way downstairs, forcing the same smile as he approached the living room. The sight in front of him was enough to make his chest tighten. Taehyung had his arms securely wrapped around Jin, holding him close.
Jungkook’s voice came out low, almost a whisper. "Good morning, hyung... Jin hyung." His eyes, however, bore into Taehyung's hands as if they were searing into his soul.
Jin looked up at him, his usual gentle smile making Jungkook's heart ache.
"Good morning, Kook. How are you doing?" Jin's eyes were filled with fondness, the same adoration he always had for Jungkook. But it was a brotherly love, and that was what crushed him the most. Jin’s affection felt like poison now, knowing that it could never be anything more.
Seeing Taehyung so casually close to Jin—Jin so comfortable in his arms—it was too much. Jungkook could feel something dark stirring inside him, something he couldn't suppress anymore. Without a word, he turned and rushed back to his room, leaving everyone in confusion.
Jin furrowed his brow, finally noticing Jungkook's strange behavior. "Is Jungkook upset?" he mumbled, but before he could think much about it, Taehyung tugged him back into a playful hug, distracting him again.

Meanwhile, Jungkook slammed the door of his room shut, collapsing onto the floor. His hands gripped his hair as if trying to pull the overwhelming thoughts out of his head. The monster inside him, the one he had been trying to suppress, was rising again. His mind raced, tormented by the image of Jin being with someone else—being with Taehyung. He couldn’t stand it. His chest burned with jealousy, with obsession.
"Why? Why can't I have you, Jin? Why can't you be mine?"
Jungkook whispered to himself, his voice trembling with desperation.
"Why do I belong to you, but you don’t even know it? Why does every breath I take... belong to you?"
He clenched his fists tightly, his mind spiraling into darker and darker thoughts. There were ways, so many ways, to break Jin apart from Taehyung. It would be easy—he could do anything if it meant having Jin to himself. The more he thought about it, the more his mind fed into those dangerous ideas. He could manipulate things, create situations, lie, do whatever it took to drive a wedge between them.
But then, an image of Jin’s soft smile, the way he looked at Taehyung with such admiration and comfort, flashed through his mind. Jungkook’s body trembled as his heart twisted painfully.
"I... I can’t," he muttered. "I can’t take that smile away from him. I can’t hurt him like that."
The darkness around him thickened, but Jungkook knew one thing for sure—no matter how much it killed him to watch Jin with Taehyung, he couldn't be the one to destroy Jin’s happiness. Even if it meant tearing himself apart inside.
