"The Devil is and always will be a gentleman"
Chan pushed open the door to the forensic lab, a familiar migraine beginning to pulse behind his eyes. Inside, Jisung was deep in his work, so absorbed that he didn't notice Chan's presence until Chan took the seat across from him.
"Did he say anything?" Jisung asked, still typing on his laptop.
Chan sighed and glanced at Changbin, who was waiting expectantly. After a pause, Chan took a deep breath. "Nothing. No matter how hard I tried, he wouldn't give me a single answer."
"I still don't believe he's involved in this murder," Jisung said, finally looking up and shutting his laptop.
"Faking your name at your own university isn't exactly ordinary behavior, Jisung," Changbin interjected.
"He might have personal reasons," Jisung countered. "Think about it-why would he stay at the murder scene, knowing he already is quite suspicious? I don't believe the killer would be that reckless."
"Whatever his reasons for faking his name, I still can't overlook the fact that he's suspicious," Chan replied, rubbing his temples. "What about the post-mortem exam you sent for? Have the results come in yet?"
"Not yet, Hyung. I'm just waiting on that. It's our best chance to find any clue. If my theory about poisoning is correct, there might be some trace in his body. I even asked them to take blood samples from different areas to cover all bases. The blood and report should be here in a few hours. We just have to wait."
"Alright, that sounds promising. If we find even a single unique trace, we can check local suppliers and maybe start narrowing down suspects," Chan said, making Changbin nod. "But it's a lengthy process with no guarantees," Jisung pointed out.
"We don't have many options. I've checked every CCTV around the campus. The murderer knew the best places to hide, and the university's cameras are off around midnight, which is likely when he moved the body," Changbin added, making the others hum thoughtfully.
"So, we wait. But what should we do with Jeongin?" Chan asked.
"How about having Hyunjin talk to him?" Changbin suggested, though his tone lacked confidence.
Chan shot him a look, equal parts confused and offended. "Why would Hyunjin succeed where I didn't? And if you're implying we should have him seduce Jeongin into talking, then I'm absolutely against it."
"He's really not much help anyway. Where is he? I thought I called him to assist, but he only stayed twenty minutes and then vanished," Jisung grumbled. "He's a university student and a trainee, like me, but I'm pulling more weight than he ever has."
