Chapter 1: The Whispering Hall
Blair stared at the hall in the distance, its decaying barely visible through the thick fog that clung to the coastline. The building, once grand, stood like a forgotten tom its windows shattered into pieces, its doors sealed shut by time. Blair's heart was pounding in her chest ,memories of her brother flashed through her mind. She didn't set foot in this town since his funeral, but now she was here, compelled by a mystery she couldn't ignore.
The package had arrived three days ago. No address written. Just her name, written in the familiar, same handwriting of her late brother. A single tape recording, old and worn. As a sound engineer, Blair had worked with countless formats, but this tape was different. Something about it felt... off.
The tape recorder creaked as she inserted the reel. Her fingers trembled as though she had fear as she pressed play.
A low hum cracked through the speakers, merging with the silence of the room. For a moment, nothing but fear filled the air. Then, faintly, a melody began to emerge, a dissonant, broken chord that sent a shiver crawling down Blair's throat. The notes were incomplete, as though they were searching for something that wasn't there.
She recognized the tune instantly. It was the same melody her brother had been composing in the days before his death. Unfinished, scared, and full of sorrow.
A voice, barely audible, whispered through the air:
"Come back, Blair. Come back to where it all began."Her blood ran cold, her heart almost stopped. That voice it was her brother's, but twisted, beyond recognition. She froze, staring at the recorder in disbelief. It couldn't be. He was gone. But the words echoed, pulling her toward the window, toward the distant outline of the concert hall.
The wind was growing outside, howling through the cracks of her apartment, but under the wind, Blair heard something else. A chorus of whispers, faint but growing louder, weaving through the air like ghostly fingers. She could almost feel them wrapping around her, pulling her toward the source of the sound. Haunting her as though she could see him.
She awoke to reality, her breath caught in her throat as she realized something she wasn't alone.
Chapter 2: Echoes of the Past
The library was dimly lit, the air thick with dust and the smell of aging paper. Blair brushed her fingers along the spines of the books as she made her way to the music section, each title a whisper of the past calling to her. She felt a sense of unease settle in her stomach, a reminder of the dark history she was about to unearth.
As she reached the shelf marked 784, she pulled down a volume on the history of the concert hall. Its cover was faded, the gold lettering nearly worn off. She opened it carefully, the pages cracking beneath her touch, releasing a musty odor. The text was filled with stories of performances and artists, but it was the scattered newspaper clippings that caught her eye.
One particular article sent a chill down her spine: "The Last Performance: A Night to Remember." It described the final concert of the town's esteemed orchestra, a night shrouded in tragedy. As she read the details—about the sudden silence that had fallen over the audience, the strange weather that had enveloped the hall, and the orchestra's mysterious disappearance—she felt a pull, as if the words were reaching out to her.
