Today was like any other. School was boring and uneventful. What better way to spend the time than hanging out with your best friend? Well that is what Stan was going to do. Kyle had been busy all week preparing for the test today, that they haven't had much time to hangout. But that was all going to change. Stan had planned the whole evening out for the two of them. Given how Kyle is with schoolwork, they start with homework.
Stan was struggling with the material presented to him. The subject was about hereditary and using punnett squares to figure out the missing genotype based off the other information. It just doesn't add up. Why couldn't the teacher have given them an easier assignment? Earth and space science would have been the better choice. Kyle, picking up on Stan's confusion, tried to explain it in a way that would make since.
"Think of it like this; it all comes down to dominate and recessive. Something like black hair would be dominate whereas blonde would be recessive. The child will most likely have black hair, but unfortunately for you, it's more complicated than that." Kyle stated, continuing with his long lecture, "Let's take Craig and his family for this example. Both his parents have recessive hair colors, blonde and red, and his younger sister also has a recessive hair color. Which makes since, both parents having recessive hair color will result in the child having recessive hair color. So how does Craig have black hair when his parents have lighter, or recessive, hair color? A simple answer would that Craig is not theirs, or one of them, but another answer could be the dominant hair color of black skipped a generation. Dominant traits have been known to skip a generation, so as long as one of his grandparents have black hair that would explain why Craig has black hair but not his parents."
Stan was more confused than when he started. He thought it would be easy given the first part of that explanation, but Kyle just had to be a smartass or something and had to over explain and make it more complicated. With Kyle's help, Stan was able to complete the homework. Now for the main event.
Stan lead Kyle back to his room, everything they needed was already set up. They were going to continue the campaign they had started with the other guys. The quest for the stick of the truth. They had originally started with the rest of the guys, but Cartman thought it would be best to have two different campaigns. One for the humans and one for the elves. It didn't make a whole lot of sense to the guys, but they agreed to it anyway. Kyle checked over the notes Cartman had given him and saw that somehow they had lost the stick.
"This is bullshit! He can't just steal the stick back after we worked so hard to get. What do you think we should do, Stan?" Kyle asked.
Stan could tell that his friend was pissed that all his hard work went to waste. So much blood, sweat, and tears just to get the upper hand on the humans. The confusing part was that the notes made it seem like it wasn't the humans who had the stick. Who was allowed to join in without the rest of the group knowing? The boys saved that headache for another day, in favor of having fun in the campaign. Given that a mysterious third party has the stick, the two of them acquired random quests to complete in an effort to obtain cash.
The majority of them were petty tasks that didn't pay much, but it was at least something. They did notice a bounty for 'The Tomb of Horrors' to slay Acererak. Stan and Kyle knew better than to take this quest. It did pay a lot, but given how most people lose their lives to this, it wasn't worth it. The two of them decided it would be better to wait until they have their main campaign with the rest of the guys; they didn't have much direction on what to do now. Not with the stick missing and now in some unknown persons hands.
With that, they went to their next task. Stan had rented a movie for the two of them to watch, and created a comfy area in his room for them. He created a fort full of pillows, blankets, and plushies with his laptop set up in front of it. The two of them got comfortable in the fort and started the movie. It started off friendly, Stan and Kyle stayed on their side of the fort, not getting to close to each other. Kyle was sitting cuddling his orca whale plush while enjoying the movie. Stan, on the other hand, was a nervous mess. He really wanted to get close to his best friend, but didn't want to ruin anything. They had been best friends for years, and in that time Stan's crush for Kyle only increased. How would he go about this? He could be discreet about it, just slowly get closer and closer until it would be obvious what his feelings were. Or, he could do what he actually did.
"Look, there's something I've been meaning to tell you," Stan started off. He could feel a lump in his throat and struggled to get the words out. He just needed to not think about it and say it. "I love you! Okay?"
Kyle was clearly confused. Friends, especially ones that were as close as they were, told each other 'I love you' all the time. But something was different about his confession. It wasn't the same any other time they did it. It sounded more desperate, more wanting. Kyle could feel the change in the room. Their simple, friendly conversation had taken a turn. It was awkward and uncomfortable. Kyle needed to say something. Anything! But what? What is the right thing to say in this situation? He did think his friend was cute, and was always jealous when Stan got back with Wendy. Maybe he could try it out. Being in a relationship with Stan, that is. Tweek and Craig had gotten together back in elementary school when everyone saw that yaoi art and thought they'd be cute together, and they're still together.
"Well, I love you too." Kyle sheepishly stated. He didn't know what this would mean for them.
Kyle has never been good with relationships. Any attempt to get a girlfriend has failed miserably. Maybe the fact he's going to be in a relationship with a guy it'll work out. Maybe.
