Ariel and Eric one shots

Urusula's demise, but not a happy ending

The aftermath of Ursula's demise paints a sad scene. Eric lies unconscious on the beach, the waves gently lapping at his feet. Ariel, perched on a jagged rock, her mermaid tail trailing in the water, gazes longingly at the man she loves, her heart heavy with unspoken words and unattainable dreams.

Not far off, Triton and Sebastian watch the scene unfold. Triton's eyes are a storm of conflicted emotions, anger, relief, and a lingering fear for the safety of his kingdom. Sebastian, ever the loyal advisor, stands by, his eyes filled with worry for the young mermaid.

"Ariel," Triton's voice booms, carrying the weight of the ocean's depth. "You've endangered your life and the safety of our realm for a human!"

Ariel turns, her eyes pleading, but she knows there will be no leniency. The memory of her bargains, her risks, all flash before her.

"You are to return to the sea," Triton commands, his tone leaving no room for argument. "The surface world is not our domain."

Tears well up in Ariel's eyes. She looks back one last time at Eric, whose figure remains unmoving on the sand. A part of her wishes to defy, to run to him and say everything her heart aches to express, but the command of her father and the reality of her world weigh her down.

Reluctantly, Ariel slips off the rock, her tail disappearing into the water. Sebastian watches her go, a sorrowful tune humming on his lips as he follows his princess back into the depths. Triton's heart aches as he turns away from the scene, knowing that he's also broken her heart in trying to protect his daughter.

Back in the ocean, Ariel resumes her life among her people. She throws herself into her duties, becoming a bridge between the sea and the surface world, even if it means silently nursing her broken dreams. She learns to find solace in her new purpose, becoming a symbol of unity and understanding, even if her heart remains divided.
