"I say, she took the entrance exam and she passed the written and practical part with flying colors that simply means she is accepted into UA" Midnight stated already visibly tired from all the back and forth

"She barely passed the practical part, if it wasn't for all those last minute points, she would not have made it" Sekijiro commented with his usual bitter tone of voice

"For once I want to agree with Sekijiro, we are giving her too much credit" Snipe seconded, "The fact of the matter is that she lost control of her quirk, endangered half of the students and injured one of them"

"I think you guys are missing the big picture here," Thirteen chimed in, "We are talking about the girl who was called a 'monster' when she was only ten years old and now she wants to be a hero, that's gotta be worth something!"

"I think Thirteen is right," I finally joined in, "That does show character"

"Right, that's character and all." Sekijiro snapped back at me almost immediately, "but what is the symbol of peace gonna do when one of your students loses control and destroys half of the school?" He turned back to the rest of the teachers, "The important thing here is keeping the students safe"

I didn't say anything back, as much as I wanted to believe in second chances, I knew most times they weren't worth the risk.

"Half of my students have quirks that could destroy ground gamma in an instant, we are taking a gamble everyday with these kids" Cementoss joined, "What makes them any different than her?"

The room went quiet for a second.

This is my first year as a teacher in UA, but this is the first time the staff has been so divided in the decision to accept a student into the school. There wasn't any discussion about the other students, just tallying off their points and making sure they passed the written test. The entrance exam was not designed to be difficult to grade, just difficult to pass. But Sora Kamimura proved to be the exception to this.

Stories of villains, pain and destruction are shown in the news nearly every day. It is hard to keep track of who was the biggest villain that week or who was the most dangerous threat, but every so often, there are some stories that stick with you. The details of this story become more elusive as time goes by, but we all remember the premise. A little ten year old girl from Shizuoka Prefecture who lost control of her quirk and accidentally killed her adoptive family. The trial went on for a week, most of it was sealed to the public and the few information we did get was confused and oftened sensationalized by the media. However, as more and more information piled up, truthful or not, something was very clear: the hero society that was meant to protect us was flawed. I don't believe this is the first time something like this has happened, as a hero my job is to be aware of the dawning fact that there are thousands of lives I can't save and like this, this story of agony was just a small fraction of all the others that were left untold. A glimpse that showcased the imperfect reality of a superhuman world.

One might argue that something good came out of all the pain and suffering, as a new set of rules were implemented after this, more quirk counseling for kids, and more money put in place for the institutions aiming to take care of kids. There was even a new name for this type of impossible situation—"A Sone Incident" —- it was how people called it nowadays. Just a person with an uncontrollable quirk in a bad situation.

But was it really worth it? to have all this talk of change and hope at the expense of a little girl who was dealt the wrong cards in life. Was it worth it to ruin a life for the betterment of others?

I know what it feels to be watched by the entire world. Having to carry the weight of a good reputation, of a symbol of peace, was already a hard enough job. I cannot fathom what a little girl had to live through carrying around her neck the title of a villain and monster. Having her name be a synonym with a threat.
