Being married to Dazai Osamu is a strange phenomena that you can't put into words.Of course, that is after acknowledging that he is the Port Mafia's Boss. The Port Mafia part was the digestible and easy part about him; it was solid proof that there was blackness in his blood that convicted him. But it was when he came home to you, when he kissed you, made love to you, that you found yourself stuttering over words.
You started your relationship with him as a secretary, until he professed his love for you and made you into his little wife with a giant diamond ring on your ring finger. It was merely professional at first, working beside him, doing his paperwork for him, explaining to his executives that he was or wasn't available at the moment. Then it transformed into being his wife, his darling housewife, his beautiful partner, who spent most of her time in the room of the Port Mafia's Boss either cooking or cleaning.
Conveniently, it was a young woman named Gin he replaced you with. While you were given his black card to spend your heart away, poor Gin had taken your place. Feeling pity for the girl and her confusion swirling in her dark, hopeless eyes, you had gotten back onto the workforce to guide her. How large her eyes were, yet prominently veiled.
"Don't be afraid of Dazai," You explained to Gin, who was typing unsurely on a laptop. She was typing with her index fingers, clearly not knowing how to type professionally. You're sitting on one of the chairs in the office, spinning around on it while talking, making your face look like the frames of a zoetrope. Gin raises an eyebrow at your actions: was this really the famed Port Mafia's Boss's wife? "He won't bite. Sure he might judge you, but biting isn't his thing. Now as for Atsushi, biting is totally his thing."
"Atsushi?" She echoes, confused. You stop spinning.
"The white reaper, as they call him," You sigh. "He's such a sweet boy. It's a shame he's working here."
"It's better than being stranded as an orphan," She says, before she claps her hand over her mouth. You blink, then gently smile at her.
"Is that where my husband found you? As an orphan?"
She doesn't say anything, before nodding.
"Any siblings?" You ask.
A moment of silence. She seemed to be fighting a war within herself, and before you can say anything, she shakes her head.
"I have no siblings."
Her jaw was tightly clenched to mimic that of a concentration camp attendee. Clearly she was lying; the look of betrayal in her eyes told a story that you were infinitely curious about. But it wasn't your place to ask, it wasn't your place to know. Following your husband, you were a people reader, but it got you nowhere in life. You could see through people and their natures, a gift that you gleaned from reading numerous novels throughout your life, but it did you no good but bring you closer to corruption that was the darkness of the human mind. It was when you spoke to Dazai and confided in him did you feel like you were striking a match in the desolate darkness.
"Alright," You nod. "Sure."
"It's true."
"I believe you," You say.
"You don't sound convinced," Gin says, a tad bit angrily. You shrug.
"You haven't convinced me. All you said is you don't have a sibling."
She blinks, anger making her vision bleary. "I can't prove what I don't have."
"That's true," You say, then standing up and checking the clock on the wall. "Well, good luck on the paperwork, Gin. I have to go and prepare dinner."
