Through my veil I can only see the big entrance door, which was decorated with beautiful yellow marigold flowers.

There stood a women, to welcome us. I bent down to touch her feet. And she smiled at me. Her smile somewhat felt fake to me.

"Andar aajao thakurain"

[Come inside thakurain. ]

I stepped inside and I was taken to the mandir of the house.

"Bent and prayed to God to give me courage and patience to work with my new relationships here."

I came to the main hall and it was lavish. My house was big but this house was bigger, probably biggest and most grand I have ever seen. It had 3 floors And had many rich decoration place here and there.

"Tum iss Ghar ki Bahu aur thakurain ho"

[You're the daughter in law and thakurain of this house.]

She came towards me for closer inspection.

"Dikhne me toh chand si khubsoorat Bahu chune hai Rudra aur adhiraaj ke baba ne"

[By looks, Rudra and Adhiraaj's father had chosen a beauty. ( as pretty as moon).]

She smiled and paced a box in my hand.

"Tum pehle baar iss Ghar me aayi ho. Hamne pehle baar tumhara muh dekha hai. Iss liye ye Hamari taraf se. Tumhari dadi Saas ka hai. Ab tumhara hua."

[You have came to this house for the first time. I saw your face for the first time. So this is from my side. This was from your grandmother in law. Now it's yours]

My husbands were no where to be seen. maybe they have gone to their room.

She took me to a room in the 1st floor. This was a big room with a big bed. A set of sofa. It had a balcony too with. Their laid a semi circular bed, and cushions placed neatly.

" Tum Jakar bister par baithi jao aur ghunghat Daal lo."

[ go sit on the bed and put on the veil.]

I nodded and went to the bed and sat in the middle.

"Jab Adhiraaj aaye toh use doodh ka gilas de dena, baki toh tumhe apni Maa ne hi bataya hoga na"

[When Adhiraaj comes, give him this glass of milk, and yourself mother must have told you about later.]

I nodded.

"Aadhiraaj Bada hai, aur thoda kathor bhi, lekin sainyaam hai usme, samajhdaari bhi."

[Ahiraaj is elder, and a little cold. But he has patience, and is responsible.]

"Vo kabhi kisi se naa nahi sunta 'thakuron' ke khandan se hain hum, isiliye paison ke saath garw ki bhi kami nahi hai."

[He never take no for an answer, we are from thakur family, we Don't lack money along with pride.]

"Dekhne me to sayani lagta ho, par Phir bhi ek Aurat ki Tarah salah dete hai."

[By looks you seem responsible, but still as a women I wanna give you an advice.]

I glanced at her listening attentively.

"Jab Hamara byaah hua tha toh hum sirf 16 Saal ke the, aur Adhiraaj ke pita 28 Saal ke"

[When I got married, I was just 16 and Adhiraaj's father was 28.]

I was shocked to know that they had such a big age gap.

"Apne pati ko tum jitna apne grihasthi me sukh de paogi, utni hi tumhari grihasthi me sukh badhega. Tumhe iss Ghar me dono bhaiyon ko barabar pyaar dena hai. Dikhne me bahut Dubli ho, apna khayal rakhna, dono bhaiyon ka pyaar sehne ke liye bhi tumhe taakat chahiye."

[The more you satisfy and keep your husband happy in your household, the more happiness will increase in the household. You are so petite, take care, you have to endure the love of the brothers for which you need strength. ]

I blushed as I remembered how petite I am for them. But I have accepted them as my husbands and I will give them my everything and devote myself to them.

She gently placed a hand on my head and left the room.

I lifted my veil a little and looked around the room. The ceiling had a 'jhoomar' and room had dim lights. There was a dresser and a big cupboard. So 'is this going to be my new room?'

I was still skeptical.

In my home when my bhabhi suman got married to My brothers she had a separated room for herself and their sex life was their own private matter. I do not have any clue how does this works.

My father was the only son and my mom had only one husband. I had no idea a out how actually my loge from now on will progress.

I was still in doubt when I heard the door open. I hastely put on my veil and sat back down on the bed.

From what I saw I could vaguely point out that he was Adhiraaj ji. He came inside the room and sat on the bed.

I reached for the milk on the bedside table, and gave him milk.

As Maa had told me to give him milk.

He was looking at me all this time. I can feel his gaze on me. I was keeping my eyes low, though I Don't fear him, but I feel nervous. Maybe it is due to the uncertainty of how the coming moments of life will shape my future.

He drank the milk and gave me back the glass. I placed the glass back.

"Hamari taraf dekhogi bhi nahi kya thakurain "

I felt butterflies after listening to his voice, he had a strange dominance to his voice as if I have to listen to whatever he has to say.

How can he see me ,I was veiled.

"Hamne dekha tumhe, Mandap par, Tum dekh rhi thi ham dono ko."

I blushed and replied.

"Aap bhi toh dekh rhe the hame."

I looked at him.

"Tum bahut khoobsurat ho, ham toh tumhe pehle baar Dekhne par hi kho gye the."

I was red now, I can feel the blood rushing to my cheeks and nose.

"Aapne Hame shaadi se pehle dekha tha? Humse toh kisi ne bataya hi nahi apke baare me."

He froze. He looked deep into my eyes, keeping his index finger below my chin he asked darkly.

"kya ye byaah tumhari marzi se nahi hua hai, kya koi zabardasti hui hai is byaah ke liye.

I was thinking if I should say him or not that I was never shown his picture or his brother's.

"Zabardasti nahi, par poocha nahi gya bus bataya gya tha, ki thakuron ke Ghar byaah hoga Mera."

"Tum so jao."

I could not decipher his tone nor his words. He seemed a little tensed and sad at the same time.

He laid back on his side of the bed and I laid on my side.

My friends had told all the things that a new couple do on their first night but here I was lying on the bed far away from my husband.

I just could not shake off this denial and unwanted feeling. I have also made .any fantasies of how my life will be.

But this is not how I thought.
