Alone

•Giyuu p.o.v•

• I like to be alone, the feeling brings me peace and tranquillity. Laying on the floor in my low effort home, no furniture, no people. Just me. After what happened in the final selection, I've never felt a need to decorate or fill my home as it would just be filled of memories from that time. I am not deserving of this home and it should not be me here. But, I continue going everyday because it is my duty.
• As I lay alone with my thoughts, listening to the birds chirp and squirrels scuttle, my peacefulness gets disturbed by a loud knocking on my door. I stay silent hoping they go away. But as I hear the knocking continue I slowly get up, my neck and back aching from the hard wood floor. I slowly trudge towards my door and then open it.

• "HELLO TOMIOKA!!"
• wow okay.
• I slowly nod in recognition to Rengoku to show he can continue with what he needs to say.

•Rengoku p.o.v•

•I look down at Tomioka who looks very tired, his black hair a mess. Perhaps I should try to whisper to him!
• "Master has requested our presence my friend!"
I managed to whisper to him! Well I thought so anyway. But as I see Tomioka put his hand on his forehead, seemingly getting a bit agitated, I begin to doubt my whispering skills.
• "Okay. I will be with you in a second Rengoku."
• I have always liked Tomiokas straightforward and blunt way of speaking, people describe him as shy but I feel there is a better way to describe him. Almost like a jumpy black cat. While lost in my thoughts, I feel a light tap on my shoulder.
•"Rengoku?" I look down to see Tomioka now with his hair clean and slick, in his uniform. •"Goodness I really got lost in my thoughts there!" I say while laughing and patting the black cat's head. I feel him flinch a small bit but I don't think anything of it and put it down to Tomioka's lack of socialising.

•Tomioka's p.o.v•

• Damn Rengoku has a heavy hand, he almost took my head off with that. I wonder why he petted me however. I shrug it off and put it down to his sun like nature and begin walking to Master's manor. As we are walking Rengoku begins to talk about pretty much anything, I don't mind listening I guess and every now and again I nod my head to make sure he knows that I am listening.
• Usually when someone is talking to me I try to make minimal eye contact and mostly look at the floor. But, there is something quite comforting about Rengoku's face that makes me feel invited to look at him while he is talking. It seems he notices this as he does this huge gummy smile that almost feels like praise for looking at him.
• It feels nice.
• We eventually make it to our masters manor and kneel in-front of his doors. Slowly our Master comes out supported by his wife and speaks at us.
• "Thank you Kyojuro and Giyu for coming today." We both lift our heads to show we are listening. "There have been multiple attacks in the same village over and over again. And so, you two must travel to this village during the day, ask people who are living close to the attack spots if they have seen anything, and then during the night go on the lookout for demons. Do you understand?"
•"Yes master" we both say in unison, however I am unsure the master even heard me saying it as Rengoku had pretty much shouted it, I really think he has hearing loss.
•"Good. I will give you a map which shows the spots of the attacks, the map will also show where the both of you will be staying as this may be a long mission." My master says with his soothing voice, that somehow can overpower everything.
•"Understood, Master." I say before Rengoku can overpower me. He nods and smiles at us before saying that we are now able to leave and prepare our things to bring with us for the mission.

• Well let's see how this goes.
