Chapter 1: Unexpected Encounter

Rena's POV

It was just another ordinary day at school. The hallways buzzed with chatter and laughter, and the sound of lockers slamming echoed through the air. I had my usual routine: head to class, avoid unnecessary drama, and hang out with my best friends, Renreal and Honey. We were an inseparable trio, always there for each other through thick and thin. But that morning, I didn't know my world was about to shift in a way I couldn't have imagined.

I was rummaging through my locker, trying to find the notebook for my literature class, when I felt someone brush past me. It wasn't unusual, given how crowded the halls were, but something about that touch made me pause. I looked up and there he was-Filip.

I'd seen him around before. He wasn't in my circle, not even close. He was the quiet type, always sitting in the back, keeping to himself. Some people said he was intense, but I never paid attention. Until now.

Filip stopped a few feet away, his eyes locking with mine, and it was like the noise of the school faded. For a second, it felt like it was just him and me, alone in that crowded hallway. I couldn't read his expression-there was something in his gaze, something that made my stomach flutter and my heart race all at once.

I forced myself to look away and went back to my locker, pretending like nothing had happened. But I could still feel his presence, lingering, watching. When I turned around again, he was gone, swallowed up by the crowd.

"Earth to Rena!" Renreal's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

I blinked and shook my head. "What? Sorry, I spaced out."

"Clearly," Honey said with a smirk, nudging my arm. "You were totally in your head. Who was it this time?"

I felt my cheeks heat up but shrugged it off. "No one."

They exchanged knowing looks, but before they could press me further, the bell rang, and we hurried off to class. But all throughout the day, I couldn't shake that feeling-the way Filip had looked at me. It was unsettling, yet thrilling in a strange way.

---

By the time school ended, I had almost convinced myself that it was all in my head. Maybe I was overthinking. Filip probably didn't even know I existed. But as I walked toward the exit, I saw him again, leaning against the wall near the front doors.

This time, he didn't just look at me. He walked over, his eyes still fixed on mine, that same intense gaze from earlier.

"Rena, right?" His voice was deeper than I expected, soft but commanding at the same time.

"Yeah," I said, trying to sound casual but feeling anything but.

"I've been watching you." His words sent a shiver down my spine, though I wasn't sure if it was out of excitement or fear. "We should talk."

I glanced around, suddenly hyper-aware of the students around us, but no one seemed to notice the strange tension between us.

"About what?" I asked, my voice wavering.

"About us."

Us? My heart skipped a beat. There was no "us." We'd barely spoken before today.

Before I could respond, Renreal and Honey appeared at my side. "Everything okay here?" Renreal asked, eyeing Filip suspiciously.

"Yeah, we were just talking," I replied quickly, though I wasn't sure if that was entirely true. Filip's gaze shifted from me to them, his jaw tightening slightly.

"We'll catch up later, Rena," he said, his tone possessive. Then, without another word, he turned and walked away, leaving me standing there, my mind reeling.

As we walked home, Honey kept asking me questions about what had just happened, but I barely heard her. My thoughts were consumed by Filip-by the way he made me feel, by the strange pull I felt toward him.

I didn't know then, but that was just the beginning. Filip wasn't just a passing crush. He was about to change my life in ways I couldn't imagine, and soon, I'd realize just how dangerous it could be to love someone so intensely.

And just how possessive love can become.
