Mia tapped her nails against the armrest, the rumble of the plane engines matching the rhythm of her thoughts. She stared out the window, watching the clouds swallow up the ground below, and tried to steady her breathing. This trip wasn't like any of the others. It had weight to it—a whole lot of it.

She hadn't planned on leaving. She honestly planned on booking an appointment at the abortion clinic soon. But after that run-in with Cj, she couldn't take staying back home any longer. She needed to get away, even if that meant breaking the news to Messiah. He knew she was pregnant; she could see it in the way his eyes lingered. That smirk. That stupid laugh. She rolled her eyes at the memory, shifting in her seat as she tried to get comfortable.

She pulled out her phone, scrolling through her messages. Sahara had already sent a string of texts:

Sahara💘: You okay?
Sahara💘: Wya now?
Sahara💘: And don't forget to eat something. Luna is starving.

Mia smiled a little, appreciating how her best friend always stayed on her. She typed back quickly:

Mia: Just boarded. I'm good. Trying not to throw up. Pray for me lol. And who the hell is Luna?!!?

Sahara💘: My niece name. Obviously

Mia chuckled and shook her head. She locked her phone and leaned back, closing her eyes. The hum of the plane was almost comforting, a steady white noise that drowned out her racing thoughts. She kept trying to picture what would happen when she got there—how Messiah would react, how she'd explain everything without breaking down.

The flight attendant came through showing Mia how to strap her seatbelt. She kept one hand resting over her stomach, almost like she was reminding herself that this was real. It wasn't just her life anymore—there was a whole other part of it growing inside her. The thought made her chest tighten.

Her phone buzzed in her hand, pulling her back to reality.

Messiah: You otw? Can't wait to see you.

Mia read the message, her chest tightening even more, mixed with butterflies in her stomach. She blushed and typed back:

Mia: Yeah about to take off.

She locked her phone again, exhaling slowly.

After a few minutes she unlocked her phone again and sent another text.

Mia: I love you 💘

She put her phone on airplane mode and got right back in thoughts .

She didn't know what he'd say when she told him, or if she'd even get the words out right. Her mind kept flipping between scenarios—him being mad, him being calm, him offering to help, him saying fuck her and the baby. Every possibility felt heavy, weighing down on her chest.

Mia stepped into the arrivals area, scanning the crowd for a familiar face. Then she saw him. Messiah was leaning against a wall, his tall figure easily recognizable, even in the sea of people.

As he caught her eye, he straightened up, and she felt her stomach flip. Mia wore one of his hoodie and a pair of leggings, she made sure to cover up so that her bump wasn't immediately noticeable to him. He pushed off the wall and made his way toward her, smirking at her the entire time.

"Hey," he said, licking his lips as he looked down at her

"Hey" she said lowly, trying to hide her blush

He stepped closer, wrapping his arms around her in a warm embrace that felt like home. For a moment, the weight of everything slipped away, and she melted into his familiar scent. "You smell good" he mumbled, pulling back just enough to look into her eyes.
