"God, what smells so bad?" I say, walking into the kitchen, "Who died?"
Tori scoffs and rolls her eyes, "No one, we were just working on our mold project," she motions between her and the boy-- Ian-- sitting at our dining table, "besides, it's not that bad."
I give her a look, "I can practically see the stink lines,"
"I am so upset!" Trina yells, storming inside and slamming the door, "You won't believe who I got partnered with for the big showcase,"
"Who?" Tori and I ask simultaneously.
"Andrew Harris, a tenth grader!"
Tori's science partner pipes up, "What's the big showcase?"
"It's a performance they put on at her school every year-"
Trina interrupts her, grabbing Ian's wrist and dragging him towards the door, "They invite agents and directors and producers and other super powerful people in show business, and is extremely important, which is why I'm upset" she pauses briefly and pushes the boy outside, "And goodbye!" she slams the door.
"Hey! He and I have a science project due tomorrow," Tori whines, "I have to bring in my mold bush."
"No! Andrew's coming over, and you gotta help us figure out what to do!"
I watch as Trina moves toward the piano, "Yeaaah, I'm out" I attempt to head upstairs, but Tori grabs my wrist and drags me back.
"Oh no, if I have to listen to her, you do too," she says, making me sit on the sofa.
"Really?" I say, pulling a pouty face and placing my hands under my chin, "How could you do that to this?"
Tori taps her chin, "hmmm... easily," we hear Trina attempt to sing, and she gives me a look, "See?"
"How was that?"
"Something," I say, as Tori says,
"Loud"
"You guys are just jealous," Trina responds, flipping her hair, "That I'm the one who got all the talent,"
My face wrinkles up in offense, and as the doorbell rings I realize my opportunity.
"Ugh! He's here! You two," Trina says looking at Tori and I, "Stay!"
I look at Tori and then to where Trina has turned around to yell at the door, "Yeah... bye," I break into a run towards the stairs. Suddenly I'm on the ground, my head banging against the floor.
"Nope!" Tori chirps from above, then leans in close, whispering, "I said, if I have to sit through, this so do you, and 'm sticking to that."
"God," I groan, rubbing my forehead, "Geez, fine,"
Tori smiles and stands up, pulling me with her, "Great!"
I glance over to where Trina and the guy she's partnered with are staring at us. I smile, wave shyly, and clear my throat, "Um, hi," I put my hand out, "I'm Tabby."
"And I'm Tori," my sister chimes in from behind me.
"Andre," the guy says smiling, "you guys go to Hollywood Art too?"
I laugh, "No, no, Trina here is the performer."
"Yep," Trina adds, squishing Tori and I's faces, "I've got the talent, and these two have the brains and strong teeth," Trina lets go of us, and wraps an arm around Tori's shoulder, "Y'know, Tori's never had a cavity?"
"I try not to brag about it," Tori shrugs.
Andre nods, before his eyes drift off to the side, "Nice piano!" he exclaims, walking over to the bench, and begins to play.
