Fiction 1: JUST THE TWO OF US

Dedicated to Chiana<3

•••••

The sun streamed through the curtains as Aurora's cheerful voice broke the morning silence.

"Good morning, Mahal! Wake up, wake up! It's time to prepare breakfast! I am hungry!" with boundless energy, she jumped on the bed, covering Amando's face with the blanket.

"Inaantok pa ko—" he mumbled, burying himself deeper into his cozy blankets.

"Rise and shine, Mahal! Gising ka na!" Aurora persisted, shaking him playfully. She grabbed his pillow, revealing a frown expression on his face. "Magluluto tayo, dali! Gising na!"

"Mahal naman eh! Inaantok pa 'ko..." Amando pouted, resembling a child being dragged to school, as Aurora pulled him towards the kitchen.

"What's for breakfast?! Hmmm? Bacon? Egg? You choose." Aurora scanned through the cabinets, her excitement was all over the kitchen, but disappointment hit when she found them empty.

"Mamaya na 'ko kakain—"

"You don't have groceries?!" she exclaimed incredulously, her hands on her hips as she stared at the empty fridge.

"Order. Order na lang tayo..." Amando sighed, resting his head on the table, closing his eyes once more.

With determination, Aurora grabbed her phone and placed an order for their favorite breakfast items. While waiting, she animatedly chatted away, her words flowing like the coffee she was brewing, while Amando listened, still half-asleep.

"So... I fired him. Ang bobo eh." Aurora's pride was evident as she recounted her workplace drama, a smile breaking on Amando's lips despite his sleepy demeanor.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang. "The food is here!"

Aurora squealed, her excitement contagious as she dashed to the door to received their meal. As they settled into breakfast, Aurora playfully propped her feet on the table, a habit that usually led to light-hearted teasing. But disaster struck when she accidentally knocked over her glass of coffee, shattering it all over the floor.

"Oh my god!" she gasped, eyes wide in panic as Amando jumped up. "Sorry..."

"Sandali. Huwag mong ilapag paa mo." without a second thought, he scooped her up and carried her towards the sink, setting her down safely while cleaning up her mess.

"Thank you, Mahal," she said, her mouth full, a grin spreading across her face in gratitude. Once Amando finished tidying up, Aurora pulled him in for a tight embrace. He breathed in her familiar scent, warmth enveloping them both.

"I love you..." his voice was full of warmth. Noticing a bit of water on the side of her lips, Amando reached out with a tissue, gently wiping it away.

"I love you more..." she whispered softly.

"Let's dance..." he smiled, extending his hand and helping her down from the counter.

They began to sway together in the kitchen, the silence filled with unspoken love. No music was needed; the rhythm of their hearts created the perfect melody.

Amando held Aurora's waist, while her hands rested on his neck. Laughter bubbled between them, light and carefree, as they danced in their own little world. Amando twirled Aurora around, drawing closer until their lips met in a tender kiss.

"Ang ganda mo," he murmured as they pulled away, his eyes sparkling.

"Ang gwapo mo," she replied, her cheeks flushed with happiness.

In that tiny kitchen, surrounded by their delicious breakfast and the warmth of their love, they realized that together, they could turn even the simplest mornings into extraordinary memories. Just the two of them, creating a world of their own.
