I have to run. Please Starclan let me run fast. A young dark ginger tom climbed on the rock walls that had always protected his home. Everywhere were cats screaming in terror as the thunder let the ground shake. The river that had let to the Moonpool, the sacred place of the clans, was flooded. The stormy weather wasn't helping. The apprentice had never seen it rain so much. "I got you, Alderpaw!" An orange tabby she-cat grabbed him by his scruff. It was his sister, Sparkpaw. "T-thanks..." Alderpaw muttered as he tried to stand steady again. It was not the time for trembling and squealing as a kit. He glared anxiously down at the camp. Alderpaw noticed the muscled warrior Lionblaze push his brother Jayfeather up the rock walls. The blind medicine-cat grumbled something, but knew better then snap against Lionblaze. "Cats of Thunderclan, split up! Safe yourself!" Bramblestar's mew sounded between the thunder, his long brown pelt lit up by a bright flash of lightning. "We have to go, Alderpaw!" Sparkpaw pushed firmly against his shoulder. "Wait! Sandstorm is down there! She's stuck!" Alderpaw jumped down the ridge without hesitation. The elderly cat lied under the collapsed branches from what used to be the Elder's den. Alderpaw jumped towards her, the water was flooding the clearing quickly. I need to be quick! When he arrived he grabbed a few branches between his jaws and pulled them away. They were stuck. "Safe yourself, kit!" Sandstorm murmured, as she was struggling to keep her head above the rising water. "No! I can't! I have to-." He was interrupted by the sound of falling rocks. He looked behind him. The camp walls were collapsing! He could only look how his clanmates were dragged down with the rocks. Brairlight. Rosepetal. Thornclaw. Brightheart. Stormcloud. The water was rising fast. His bellyfur was getting soaked, Sandstorm couldn't move her head higher. Alderpaw teared a few branches away. Sandstorm was almost free. Then he felt a cat grabbing him by his scruff. Sparkpaw! She pulled him towards the camp's exit. "Wait wait wait! No! What are you doing! Release me! Sandstorm!" Alderpaw screeched in terror. He looked at Sandstorm once, she nodded to him and then stopped struggling against the rising water. "Get up!" Sparkpaw commanded as she pushed him to the exit. "I-I can't! The thorntunnel is collapsed!" Then, Sparkpaw pushed him hard against the rock walls that surrounded the camp. "Ouch! What's wrong with you!" Alderpaw exclaimed surprised but then realized the currents were getting intenser. "Climb on my back! There's a ridge there!" Sparkpaw looked up. Alderpaw hesitated. "Come on!" "Alright, alright!" Carefully, Alderpaw leaned on his sister's back, stretched his claws and hooked them over the ridge, he used his hind legs to push himself on the ridge. He looked down to his sister. The water had risen to above her shoulders. When Sparkpaw tried to climb up by standing on her hindquarters she was swept away by the deadly currents that were forming. She let out a loud scream before she disappeared in the waves. Alderpaw stared to the spot his sister disappeared in terror. It felt ages before he decided to move, to climb out of the camp.

Alderpaw climbed over the edge of the camp's walls. His paws slightly sank in the muddy grass. The grass can't hold all this water! He looked around, only to realize he was alone. No one of his clanmates he could see. He glanced once at the camp, his camp, before padding stream upwards, away from the floods, on a safe distance from the flooded river.
