"Are you sure you don't need more serious care, dear?" A sweet old nurse leans over me, doing a better job of wrapping up my hand. "No offense, but you look pretty rough." Her eyes wrinkle in concern, looking me up and down.

"No." I force a smile. "I'm fine, but thank you."

"Well, if you or your friend-" She glances back at Minghao, who's sleeping in a hospital bed, appearing almost just as pale as his hospital gown. "-needs me, press that button over there. Okay?"

"We will. Thank you."

With a soft nod, the nurse leaves the room, and only a soft hum takes up the space now.

Minghao had fully gone unconscious on the ride over here. When we got him to the nurses, they told us that the bullet had been poisoned somehow, but it was an easy fix. The only problem is that Minghao reacted to the poison much worse than anyone was supposed to, and now the treatment is taking its time to fix him. He looks like death.

I was much more battered and bruised than I thought I would be. With the various glass cuts and the bruises on my back and side from leaping out of a window, I'm in a world of pain now. It took its time to come back to me, pressed down by the adrenaline. But now that I'm sitting in this hospital again, blinded by the overly bright lights and fighting a parched throat, it's all coming back. I'm sure I could have asked the nurse for some pain medication, but I just didn't. I can't tell if it is because I'm too tired or too prideful.

Where Jeonghan and S.Coups are, I have no idea. Jeonghan refused any treatment, and supposedly, he and S.Coups left to finish their argument. Vernon left shortly after, claiming he was going to chat with Mingyu if he was awake and then head back.

Resting my head on the wall behind my seat, I contemplate resting my eyes. My body is truly exhausted, but my mind is still a neverending whirlwind. I wonder what Mingyu will think of all this when he learns. Really, I should probably be in his room, telling him the story myself. But, even if I wanted to, I doubt I could force my legs to stand up and walk over to him. It'll have to wait until the morning.

I scrunch my eyes shut, trying to force sleep on me. The sooner I fall asleep, the quicker I can get out of this hot mess. At least, that's the hope.

Someone knocks on the door. I groan.

The door clicks open.

Easing my eyes from their scrunch, I try to make my breathing appear normal and act as if I am asleep.

"Y/N?" Mingyu softly whispers my name.

My eyes jump open, and my head whips to the side. "Mingyu?"

He's standing in the half-open door frame, leaning on a pair of crutches. He winces in pain as he tries to step forward.

Suddenly, my legs find their energy, and I hop up, sprinting over to him. "Mingyu! What are you doing out of bed?" I shrilly whisper, trying not to disturb Minghao.

Mingyu plasters a dumb grin on his face. "I'm here to see you, duh. What else?"

"Are you allowed to be up?"

He shrugs. "They put crutches in my room, so sure."

"That doesn't sound reasonable at all."

Mingyu tilts his head slightly to the side. "Can you blame me for wanting to come check on you?"

"I-" My words get caught in my throat. After taking a deep breath and a sigh, I say, "No. I suppose not."

"Vernon told me what happened. Kind of. How badly hurt are you?"
