Samriddh's heart raced with excitement as he walked toward Suhani's bakery.
Ever since the realization hit him that he was in love with her, he had been struggling to keep his feelings in check.
His mind kept wandering back to her-the way she smiled, the way she laughed, even the way she used to irritate him with her loud music.
All of it seemed endearing now.
As he pushed open the door to her bakery, the mouthwatering aroma of freshly baked tarts hit him, and he couldn't help but grin.
"It smells fantastic in here," he said, causing Suhani to jump slightly, startled by his sudden appearance.
"Samriddh, you scared me!" she exclaimed, holding her chest in mock indignation.
He laughed, his eyes sparkling. "Oh, so Miss Suhani Joshi is scared of me now? That's new."
She rolled her eyes, smiling back at him, the tension easing. "What are you doing here?"
He took a step closer, trying to suppress the excitement that was bubbling up inside him. "I have a proposal for you," he said with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
Suhani's hands froze, and for a split second, her mind raced.
Proposal? she thought, her heart thudding in her chest.
Is he going to confess?
Is he really going to propose?
She felt a rush of emotions and couldn't quite meet his gaze.
Her thoughts were spinning, imagining what could come next.
Samriddh noticed her zoning out and waved his hand in front of her face, snapping her out of her daze. "Ka... kaisa proposal?" she stammered, trying to collect herself.
He chuckled softly. "Can we sit and talk?"
Suhani, still flustered, nodded. "I'll make us some coffee," she said quickly, needing a moment to compose herself.
She turned away, her heart still racing, and busied herself with preparing the drinks.
When she returned, the two cups in her hands felt heavier than usual.
She placed one in front of Samriddh and took a seat opposite him.
He took a sip of the coffee, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. "Suhani, I need you," he said, his voice soft but certain.
Her heart skipped a beat.
He needs me? she thought, feeling her pulse quicken.
"Can you please bake some sweets for an event I'm organizing?" he added, completely oblivious to the thoughts swirling in her head. "I'm hosting a business party, and I need a baker. Since you're the best in the city, I thought I'd ask you."
Suhani blinked, her mind taking a second to catch up. "Oh... you think I'm the best?" she asked, surprised by his compliment.
"Of course," he said, his smile widening. "You have no idea, but your tarts, pastries, and brownies are my absolute favorite."
Her heart swelled with warmth at his words. "You liked them?" she asked, a small smile playing on her lips.
He nodded enthusiastically. "Absolutely! I loved them. You're amazing, Suhani. You know, I'm not usually into sweets, but everything you've made... I've eaten it all."
