Y/N sat at her desk, the noise of the classroom a distant hum in her ears. She stared at the board, not really absorbing anything Aizawa was saying. Her mind kept drifting, pulled between the mission and the exhausting effort of trying to blend in with the students around her.
Blend in. What a joke.
No matter how hard she tried to keep her head down, it was clear from day one she didn’t fit. Her cold demeanor had already labeled her an outsider. The rest of the class moved in a tight-knit circle—laughing, training together, sharing inside jokes. Y/N? She was on the edge, watching it all from a distance.
And then there was Bakugo.
Every. Single. Day. He was relentless, always finding a reason to pick a fight, always pushing her buttons. No matter how hard she tried to ignore him, he was in her face, making snide comments, calling her weak, challenging her at every turn.
“Oi, what’s wrong, freak?” Bakugo snarled from behind her. “Too scared to answer a question? You really are useless.”
Y/N clenched her fist under the desk, her nails digging into her palm. She didn’t respond, didn’t even look at him. It was exactly what he wanted, for her to snap, to engage, to give him an excuse to fight. But she couldn’t afford distractions like him. Not when she had bigger things to focus on.
Bakugo slammed his hand down on her desk, making the papers scatter. “What, you deaf? You got something to say, or you just gonna sit there like a coward?”
She glanced up at him, her eyes narrowing but her voice steady. “I’m trying to ignore you, Bakugo. But if you really want to hear me talk, I can tell you how boring this little routine of yours is.”
His face twisted into a sneer. “Tch, like you’re any more interesting. All you do is sit there and act like you’re better than everyone else.”
Y/N smirked, though inside, she felt none of the confidence she was projecting. “Maybe I am. Or maybe you’re just mad that no one’s feeding your ego today.”
Bakugo’s eyes flared, but before he could escalate the situation further, Aizawa’s voice cut through the tension. “Bakugo, sit down.”
Bakugo shot her one last glare before turning and stomping back to his seat. Y/N let out a silent breath, her gaze flicking back to the front of the room. It was always like this with him. He saw her as a threat—maybe not to his rank, but to his pride. And he wasn’t going to let it go. Not anytime soon.
But she had bigger problems than Bakugo.

Later that day, Y/N slipped away from the class as soon as the lunch bell rang. She found a quiet corner outside the building, far from the noisy cafeteria. Reaching into her pocket, she pulled out a small, unassuming device—a burner phone, given to her by Kurogiri. The League needed regular updates, and today was no different.
She typed quickly, her fingers moving with practiced ease as she sent the day’s report. Details about All Might, notes on the students, observations about the teachers. Everything All for One demanded. But even as she typed, her mind wandered.
It wasn’t just the mission weighing on her. It was the gnawing emptiness that came with being constantly alone. No matter how much she tried to block it out, the truth was, she felt isolated. Kirishima had been the only one to genuinely approach her with a smile, trying to pull her into the group. He was different from the others—warm, welcoming. But no matter how hard he tried, she couldn’t let her guard down. Not with him. Not with anyone.
She couldn’t afford distractions. This mission was life or death, and failure wasn’t an option.
The phone buzzed, signaling the message had been sent. Y/N tucked it back into her pocket, leaning against the wall and staring up at the sky. She hated this. The lying, the pretending. Every smile, every word she exchanged with these students felt like another chain around her neck. But there was no escape. Not yet.
Kirishima’s voice echoed in her mind, his grin as wide as the sky when he had tried to invite her to sit with him and the others. "You should come join us sometime! It’s more fun when everyone’s together."
She’d brushed him off, of course. Made some excuse about needing to study. But his kindness had stuck with her, and that made her feel… wrong. It was easier to deal with the Bakugos of the world—people who hated her openly, who made it clear that she didn’t belong. At least with them, she knew where she stood. But Kirishima and a few others, like Ashido or even Midoriya, their friendliness made her uncomfortable.
She couldn’t allow herself to get close. It wasn’t just about the mission; it was about survival. Letting her guard down was too risky, especially here.

Back in class, she slipped into her seat quietly, feeling the eyes of her classmates on her. The whispers weren’t loud, but she could hear them. They thought she was strange, distant. Maybe they were right. She wasn’t here to be their friend, after all. She was here to infiltrate, to gather intel, and report back to the League. The rest didn’t matter.
Still, the isolation was suffocating. She could feel it pressing in on her from all sides. No one really tried to understand her, except for a select few. And even with them, she kept her distance. She had to.
Bakugo caught her eye from across the room, his gaze filled with his usual contempt. She could practically hear the challenge in his stare, daring her to step out of line, to give him another reason to tear into her. But she didn’t rise to it. Not today.
Kirishima turned in his seat, flashing her a small smile. “Hey, Y/N, you wanna grab lunch with us today? We were gonna head outside, get some fresh air.”
Y/N glanced at him, the briefest flicker of uncertainty crossing her face before she forced it away. “I appreciate the offer, but I’ve got some things to take care of. Maybe another time.”
Kirishima’s face fell slightly, but he nodded, still smiling. “Alright. If you change your mind, you know where we are.”
Y/N nodded, but deep down, she knew she wouldn’t join them. Not today. Not ever. She couldn’t afford the distraction, couldn’t let herself get pulled into the camaraderie of the class. She was the outcast, the spy, the one with a mission that none of them could ever know about.
And as the day dragged on, the weight of that reality pressed heavier and heavier on her shoulders. She couldn’t let anyone in. She couldn’t let her guard down. Not if she wanted to survive.
