Patrick Stump was getting ready for the concert. Pete Wentz came and chatted to him as he finished.
"Man, all these fangirls are fantastic." Pete said, grinning. Patrick smiled and nodded his head. Patrick never got the attention that Pete did. Although, in all honesty, Patrick wasn't sure that he would like attention like that all the time.
Pete stood up, and they both joined Joe and Andy, side stage, waiting to be announced onto stage.
Patrick was singing 'Thanks for the memories' when somebody in the crowd caught his eye. A young lady with long blonde hair and blue eyes. She was wearing a Fall Out Boy t-shirt and black skinny jeans. She had black Vans on her feet. The lady was in the pit. She was dancing away. Every now and then, she would glance Patrick's way. As the song finished, she looked at Patrick again and winked at him. He did it back.
Fall Out Boy got through the set and took their bows. They had a meet and greet next.
The band went backstage to the dressing rooms and hung out, cooling off and winding down a little bit.
"Meet and greet time, guys!" The tour manager said. All 4 of them went through to the area where the event was taking place. They all sat at a table and waited. The first few fans came in, had merch and vinyls signed, and then had photos taken with the band. Patrick was kind of hoping that the young lady he had seen during the concert would be here. More and more fans were let into the room. As the time wound on, Patrick found that his hope was going. Finally, the last of the fans were allowed in, and then it was back to the hotel.
Patrick came out of the building last. He was ready to get into the limo when he heard somebody call his name. Patrick turned around, and there she was. She looked just as beautiful standing there as she did earlier on.
"Hello." Patrick said, smiling. He walked over to her and held her hand in his. His other hand closed over the top. Patrick and the girl just stood looking at each other, smiling. Patrick felt like he was in a trance of some sort.
"My name is Patrick." He said. He felt a little silly introducing himself because, of course, she knew who he was.
"Hi, I am Mary-Elizabeth." She replied.
"What a beautiful name." Patrick said.
"PATRICK!" Andy yelled from the car. Patrick turned to look and then gave Mary-Elizabeth his phone number on a piece of paper.
"Call me!" He said and got into the car.
"What was that about?" Joe asked. Patrick shrugged and turned his head toward Pete, who was grinning away.By the time the band had gotten back to the hotel, Mary-Elizabeth had texted Patrick.
'Hi, again. Sorry, I had to rush away like that 😢' Patrick messaged back as they got onto the hotel elevator.
'It's ok, I understand.' The reply came back. Patrick smiled and walked to his room.
'You guys were on fire tonight, you know.' Mary-Elizabeth messaged.
'Thank you 😳'
'Aww, you are too cute, Patrick.'
'Not as cute as you are though 🥰'
'😳😳😳😍'
'What? You are beautiful. My goodness, I couldn't stop looking at you during the show.'
'☺️😚😮. I am blushing now, lol'
'Why? I am speaking the truth. I would like to take you out somewhere.'
'Like on a date?' Mary-Elizabeth was on the train home whilst this exchange took place. She smiled at her phone, waiting for the next reply.
Patrick had slipped into some sweats and was laid on his bed.
'Yes, if that's OK, of course.'
Mary-Elizabeth went to nod, them realised that Patrick couldn't see her. She clicked on his name and called him.
"Hi, Mary-Elizabeth. " Patrick said, smiling into the phone.
"Call me Beth. It's much easier." Mary-Elizabeth laughed into the phone.
"Ok, Beth." Patrick replied. "When are you free, so we can go out?"
"I am off tomorrow and the day after? Would either of those work for you?"
"Tomorrow afternoon. We could have a coffee and get to know each other?" Patrick suggested.
"Sure, that sounds cool." Beth said. They made their arrangements, and both of them went to sleep with a smile on their faces.
