Gerald picked the phone, " What is it?"

"Boss, you need to get a scapegoat as this can't be traced back to you. If it does, I'm afraid we can't help you". The person said choosing his words carefully.

Gerald roared, "you think I don't know what to do? Are you teaching me how to do my job now?"
"No no boss, I'm sorry" the other person apologized.

Gerald hung up the phone with no other word.

Frustration boiled over as he grabbed his phone and furiously dialed Larry’s number. He wasn't done with him. When Larry answered, Gerald's voice erupted like a volcano.

“You bastard!” Gerald screamed into the phone, his voice shaking with rage. “You had one job—just one! And you couldn’t even get that right! You’re as useless as your mother was, you hear me? You’re nothing but a screw-up!”

Larry gritted his teeth, Gerald’s insults cutting deeper than he wanted to admit. His face contorted with barely restrained anger, and his fists clenched at his sides. Gerald had always been harsh, but when he dragged Larry’s late mother into it, the pain became unbearable. He swallowed hard, feeling the bitter taste of humiliation on his tongue.

“You’ll never compare to Alexander!” Gerald spat, his voice dripping with contempt. “Do you see it now? You’re worthless, Larry. You’ll come here for your punishment. And until then, you lay low and figure out where you went wrong.”

Larry bit back his fury, knowing it wasn’t the right time to lash out. With a cold, measured tone, he replied, “Fine.” Then he hung up, trembling with rage.

As the phone beeped to signal the end of the call, Larry muttered to himself, "Mom, will you ever rest in peace with this old man constantly insulting you?" His voice cracked with emotion. “Don’t worry, Mom. I’ll make a name for myself, and he’ll eat every one of his words.” Despite his desire for revenge, he knew he had to comply for now. Gerald still held too much power over him.

Meanwhile, Gerald hurled his phone onto the floor, watching as it shattered into pieces. But the sound did little to quell his anger. His eyes flickered back to the TV, where the live news broadcast showed his billion-dollar shipment going up in flames. His empire was burning before his eyes.

His heart pounded in his chest as he clenched his fists so hard his knuckles turned white. “This is not over yet!” he yelled at the TV, the fire reflecting in his cold eyes.

Back at Valmere, the tension that plagued Gerald’s world seemed like a distant nightmare. Alexander stood by the window of their grand villa, a rare smile playing at the corners of his lips as he tucked his phone into his pocket. The scent of success was sweet, and his mood was light. Sophia, lounging on the bed, noticed his unusual elation.

“What’s going on, honey?” she asked, sitting up and tilting her head in curiosity. “You seem… jubilant.”

Alexander turned to face her, his grin widening as he took a few steps toward her. “Let’s just say I accomplished something important today.”

Sophia raised an eyebrow, intrigued by his teasing tone. “Something business-related?” she asked, though she knew he rarely shared much about his dealings.

Alexander chuckled, shaking his head slightly. “It’s more than just business.” He leaned in, his voice low and playful. “And now, I believe your husband deserves a little reward.”

Sophia’s playful side immediately surfaced. “Hey, it’s not like I sent you on a mission. Why should I reward you?” she teased, backing away with a mischievous grin.
