CHAPTER FIVE
Hopelessly in love. Absolutely tragic.

HOSHINO KIRA𝓣hat night, sleep did not come gently to Kira.
As soon as her eyes closed, the soft fabric of dreams wrapped around her—but something was wrong. This dream felt too heavy, too vivid, like memories unearthed rather than fantasy. She stood on a balcony carved from white stone, high above a landscape cloaked in silver mist. The world around her shimmered like moonlight frozen in time, yet a deep ache pulsed in her chest, one she could not explain.
She was wearing a flowing gown, the fabric almost weightless against her skin, trailing like mist behind her as she moved. The Earth hung impossibly large in the sky, far closer than it should have been. The stars were silent. Watching.
Wind howled from nowhere.
Far below the balcony, a palace lay in ruins—marble towers cracked and crumbled, crystalline spires shattered like glass. A strange black dust drifted through the air, settling over the remains like a mourning veil. She tried to look away, but her body wouldn't listen.
Something was controlling her.
In the dream, she fell to her knees, her hands trembling. Blood—someone's—stained the white silk of her dress. Her fingers clenched into the fabric, trying to hold herself together as screams echoed in the distance. The sound didn't belong in a dream. It was too real. Too raw. Soldiers shouting. People crying. The low, terrible hum of dark energy rippling through the sky.
And then—his voice.
Faint, broken.
"Serenity..."
Kira's heart twisted painfully. She didn't know the name, but it felt like a needle threaded with grief had been driven through her chest. She turned, slowly, as if through water.
There he was—dark-haired, cloaked in a uniform she didn't recognize, a sword heavy in his hand. He was bleeding. His knees buckled.
She ran to him.
But her feet wouldn't move.
No matter how hard she tried, she was frozen—watching as the darkness reached for him, long tendrils coiling from a black rift in the sky like a wound torn in reality itself.
He looked at her with desperate, aching eyes.
"I couldn't save you."
The world shuddered.
She screamed—silent, voiceless—as the black mist surged forward and swallowed him whole. The sound of his body hitting the stone floor echoed in her skull, and something inside her shattered.
No... no no no no—
Then she turned the sword on herself.
She didn't mean to.
She didn't remember moving.
But the cold metal was already at her chest.
And for a split second, she saw her own reflection in a broken mirror of glass nearby—a girl who looked like her, but wasn't. Hair silver as moonlight. Eyes full of sorrow and stars. Tears streaked down her face as she whispered a name she didn't remember knowing.
The blade pierced her skin.
The dream exploded into silence.
Darkness swallowed the moon, and the stars blinked out like dying embers.
