Standing behind the curtain backstage, I was in awe of Ebel pouring his heart into a live rendition of Don't Judge Me. The song was beautifully arranged and had more of a spiritual feel to it. Just what we all needed at the moment. Delila's face was plastered everywhere. She had been missing for two weeks. I never thought I would ever feel bad for her, but I did. We were born the same year. 1996. She was the same age as me. Just twenty-seven years old. Her mother and father were on television, asking people to come forward with information on her whereabouts. They started off strong during the first week. Her mother broke out in tears during her last cry for help on television. Lesane may have cheated with her. Ebel kissed her on stage, too. However, I didn't wish death on anyone. I was hoping for her parents' sake that she would be found safe.
The Seeing Double tour replaced her with a more established face. He was well-known. Arguably, the biggest rapper of the decade. Judaz was a headliner. He certainly wasn't an opener, but he acted as such for the sake of the tour. His many hits had to be trimmed down into a short mix of just five songs to cover the little time Delila had for her performance. I thought it was very humble and nice of him to fill in for an amateur.
The audience cheered loudly for Ebel as he took his bow. A large smile stretched across my features while I joined in on the applause. Suddenly, a person clapped from behind me. I glanced over my shoulder to find Judaz standing there with a warm grin on his face. "It's not No Guidance, but I mean" He joked, shrugging gently. I chuckled and placed my attention back on Ebel. The Canadian rapper moved to the left of me. "I've been seeing you around a lot lately, but haven't introduced myself. I'm Judaz" He offered a hand to me.
I gave him a formal handshake then pulled away. "I'm Giza. It's nice to meet you" The intro to No Guidance started, inciting a plethora of screams. I noticed Judaz had a mic in his hand. "Good luck out there"
"Thanks, Zaza" He casually gave me a nickname like we were old friends then smirked at me briefly. He brought the mic up to his lips and sung from behind the curtain, "Aye. Trips that you planned for the next whole week. Bands too long for a nigga so cheap. And your flex OD, and your sex OD. You got it, girl. You got it" He managed eye contact with me.
"Y'all thought it was over?" Ebel shouted into his mic. The crowd went wild. "Give it up for my nigga Judaz one more time!" The rapper finally pried his eyes off me and ran on stage. The fans were screaming at the top of their lungs. Usually, No Guidance would be Judaz's last song that would lead to Ebel's set. They switched things around for the Arizona show.
Watching their performance, they captured my full attention. I found myself caught up in singing along and bobbing my head. "I really hate that nigga" My heart nearly jumped out my chest, startled by Kain appearing to the right of me. "Oh my God. You scared me"
"Oh I scared you?" He asked with a hint of mischief lacing his voice. "Canada Dry didn't? I saw the way he looked at you" His front turned to face my side. "That nigga loves to fuck our bitches. Word to my big forehead-having ex" Crossing my arms, I bit on the insides of my cheeks and kept my silence intact. "You're not exactly rich like she is either so I'm sure-"
