Chapter Eight

I was floating in the peaceful darkness. Peace. I hadn't felt peace or freedom for a long time. It was silent as I floated around the abyss, humming to myself quietly. Then everything started to shake, I felt it within my entire being.
"Come on, Rose, wake up." I heard a voice, but it sounded so far away, yet so familiar. I wanted to find the owner of the voice.
"Please, Ro, I need you here." Another voice, but they were crying. Why were they crying? I was okay. I pushed myself around the darkness, trying to find the voices. They were closer now, more clear. Then, everything started to hurt. I screamed and writhed around in pain, but it wasn't passing. What was happening to me?

I let out a short gasp as my eyes opened, bright white lights blinding me for a minute. The pain wasn't stopping, making me whimper.
"Rose?" I heard. Emelie. Slowly, I turned my head in the direction of her voice.
"Hi." I said, but it was barely a whisper. She smiled as tears welled up in her eyes. 
"You're okay." Another voice said. I looked next to Emelie and saw Xavier standing there, his hand resting on her shoulder. A hand squeezed mine, so I looked to the opposite side of the bed, meeting ocean blue. 
"Colby." I croaked, smiling at him. He didn't smile back, just gave me a quick nod and then left. I looked back at Emelie in confusion, but she just shook her head at me. "How long was I out?" I tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot up my left side, causing me to yelp. 
"Don't get up, Ro. You were stabbed. Do you remember anything?" Xavier asked, glancing at Emelie.
"Um... We were in the asylum and we bumped into Colby and the guys. Well, Colby actually stopped a ceiling from crushing me. But we were playing the ouija board. I remember putting my fingers on the planchette, but nothing after that. It was only yesterday, surely I should remember." 

I watched as Emelie and Xavier shared a worried glance before looking back at me.
"Rose... you've been out for 3 weeks."
