Sorry for the long wait, this story has references to abuse and drug usage.I've been going through some things so sorry if it is a bit different.
Renee Rapp had always been passionate intensely so. Her emotions were fiery, her love fierce, and her temper, when sparked, could burn as hot as the sun. That morning had started like any other. A simple disagreement about the grocery list spiralled into something much larger, something entirely unnecessary. But neither she nor Y/n had anticipated what would happen next.
It began over something silly, something as inconsequential as the brand of popcorn Y/n had bought. Renee had rolled her eyes at it, annoyed that it wasn't the one she preferred. Y/n, tired from a long day of work and feeling the weight of her responsibilities, simply said, "I'll get the other one next time."
But Renee wasn't in the mood for dismissive answers. She wanted to be heard, and she wanted her frustrations validated. Her voice rose. "You never listen! It's like you don't care about what I like or need!"
Y/n, blinking in disbelief, tried to de-escalate. "Renee, it's just popcorn. I'll fix it. It's not that big of a deal."
But to Renee, in that heated moment, it was. The trivial issue masked something deeper, something gnawing at her, and she couldn't stop herself from digging deeper into the argument. "You say that every time! But you never fix it! I feel like I'm always telling you the same things over and over. Like, do you even try anymore?"
Y/n had been in abusive relationships before. She knew the signs, the sharp words, the blame, the twisting of something small into something unbearable. Her breath hitched. "Renee, stop."
But Renee lost in her frustration, pushed further. Her anger was a wildfire, unstoppable and blinding. Y/n! You don't know how hard it is to be with someone who's so...broken!"
Y/n flinched. Her past pain, struggles, and the battles she had fought just to survive all flashed before her eyes. She had confided in Renee about her darkest moments, the times when she had nearly lost herself. She had trusted Renee to hold her heart gently. But now, it felt like Renee was using her vulnerability against her.
"Renee" Y/n whispered, her voice breaking.
But it was too late. Renee's next words came out, raw and venomous, before she even realized what she was saying. "Maybe you should've done it, Y/n. Maybe you should've just gone through with it back then."
The room fell silent. The air grew still, thick with the weight of what had just been said. Y/n's eyes widened, the hurt evident as tears began to well up. For a moment, time seemed to stop. Renee's words echoed in Y/n's mind, louder and louder, until they were the only thing she could hear. She felt a familiar sting of betrayal, one that reminded her too much of the past she had fought so hard to escape.
Renee saw Y/n's reaction and knew she fucked up, she never intended to say it but now that she had she regretted it completely.
Without saying another word, Y/n turned on her heel and walked out of the house. Tears streamed down her face as she moved, each step feeling heavier than the last. She didn't even know where she was going at first—she just knew she needed to get away.
Her feet carried her to the park. It was a quiet, secluded area, a place where she had come to think, to breathe. She sat down on a bench, her hands trembling as she wiped away her tears. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't stop replaying Renee's words over and over in her mind.
"Maybe you should've done it."
Y/n had been through hell before physically, and emotionally. Abusive relationships had taken their toll. She had rebuilt herself, piece by piece. At that moment, she felt like she was unravelling all over again. The one person she had trusted the most had cut her the deepest which made her doubt and second guess why she even tried.
