Hazel-
I've lived in Chicago since 2nd grade. Before that I lived in a small town in Washington called Forks. Now, after almost a decade of living here, we're moving back to Washington. My dad recently died in a car crash and my mom wants to have more help raising me and my younger brothers. They're identical twins who are in 7th grade.
Ring Ring
I felt my phone buzz in my lap. It was my mom, who was in the u haul behind me.
"We still have about an hour so where do you want to eat?" she said as I picked up the phone.
"Is there a taco bell somewhere around here?"
"You know there is one in the town right before Forks we'll stop there."
"Ok see you soon mom," I replied and hung up so I could put my music back on.
Before I knew it we were in the taco bell parking lot walking into the building.
"I'm so excited. You are going to love our new house and we're next door neighbors with Kristie. Oh and Forks is so pretty..." My mom droned on, but I just tuned her out. I've gotten pretty good at this recently. Ever since Dad died I just feel no motivation to talk to anyone or do anything.
I got my usual at taco bell, a crunchwrap and a baja blast, and we ate in silence until it was time to go.
20 minutes later I found myself driving into a small town with gloomy forests all around it. Mom was right, Forks is pretty. I followed my mom into a cul de sac and saw a white house with a light blue one around 10 feet away from it. Mom backed into the driveway and I pulled out the side of the road. We walked up to the white house that already ahd cars in the driveway and decorations outside.
"Mom no I think this is the neighbors house." I said
"I know, it is, but we should say hi." She responded, "I just want to say hi to Kristie first."
And with that she knocked on the door. Before she finished the second knock a tall woman with dyed blonde hair, who looked vaguely familiar, opened the door with a big smile. I realized halfway into the hug she pulled me into that this was my moms best friend from college.
"Oh my Gosh I missed you all so much!" She exclaimed
"It's so good to see you," my mom screamed back.
"Charlie doesn't get home from practice for another hour so come in to catch up," Kristie said while letting us in her house, "We'll make him put your guy's stuff inside" she said with a wink while I walked by her. Then we all went inside and caught up on what we've missed.
