"It's a new feeling, strange and thrilling
I mean this, I'm not kidding
Much deeper, deeper, deeper than friendship
Maybe this is a love song"

The night had transformed into a kaleidoscope of colors, as festival lights illuminated the village. The atmosphere was electric, surpassing even the hospital's Christmas Eve celebrations.

Villagers of all ages thronged the streets, their laughter and chatter filling the crisp winter air. Soft hues of twinkling lights gently kissed their skin as they strolled, bundled in jackets to ward off the chill.

Eunseok shivered slightly, his breath visible in the chilly air. "So, where should we head first?" he asked, his eyes scanning the vibrant scene before them.

Jiwon's gaze drifted, her eyes lingering on the traditional village food stalls. The aroma of sizzling meat and steaming vegetables wafted through the air, tantalizing their senses. "There" she said finally, pointing to the stalls.

Eunseok nodded, and together they walked toward the savory delights. The sound of crackling fires and lively chatter grew louder, drawing her in. As they wove through the crowd, Jiwon's eyes sparkled with excitement, her fatigue momentarily forgotten.

"It's so spicy, but delicious," Jiwon moaned softly, savoring the traditional dish. Eunseok hummed in agreement, relishing the bold flavors that danced on his tongue.

As they finished their meal, Eunseok promptly paid for their meals, his thoughtful gesture not lost on Jiwon.

As he turned back to her, he expected to see Jiwon beside him, but instead, she had wandered over to the fish pond. The soft glow of the festival lights danced across the water, illuminating the gentle ripples.

Jiwon stood at the pond's edge, her eyes fixed on the serene scene. Her calm demeanor seemed to blend seamlessly with the peaceful atmosphere.

Eunseok approached her, his footsteps quiet on the stone pavement. "Enjoying the view?" he asked, standing beside her. Jiwon nodded, her gaze still on the water. The sound of gently lapping water and distant laughter filled the air, creating a sense of tranquility.

"They're so tiny" she said, her gaze fixed on the fish swimming lazily in the pond. "I've never had a pet. Guess I'm adopting fish once I return to Korea." She turned to Eunseok, cranking her head up to meet his eyes.

Eunseok raised an eyebrow, his expression skeptical. "Great, because you clearly need more responsibility" he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm.

Jiwon shot him a playful glare, her lips curling into a smile. "Hey, I can handle it" she retorted, her voice laced with confidence.

Eunseok snorted, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Oh, sure, you can barely take care of yourself angel" he teased, his words tinged with affection. Jiwon rolled her eyes, her smile growing wider. "Low blow" she said, shaking her head.

As they bantered, a small fish darted to the surface, its scales shimmering in the light. "Look at that one" Jiwon said, pointing. "It's so energetic." Eunseok chuckled, his eyes following her gaze. "Probably has more energy than you" he quipped, earning a playful nudge from Jiwon.

Their sassy exchanges filled the air, their comfortable rapport evident in every glance and smile.

It's peaceful isn't it?

Jiwon thought to herself, a gentle smile spreading across her face. The tension that once simmered between them had dissipated, replaced by a soothing calmness. She felt unencumbered, free from the weight of resentment and anger.

As she stood beside Eunseok, watching the fish glide effortlessly through the water, Jiwon realized that her grudge had been a heavy burden. It had suffocated her, making every interaction with him feel strained and forced. But now, with their differences set aside, she felt liberated.

The cool evening breeze carried the sweet scent of blooming flowers, and Jiwon breathed deeply, feeling her lungs expand with a sense of freedom. Her shoulders relaxed, her mind clear of the clutter that had plagued her for so long.

Eunseok's presence, once a source of discomfort, now felt reassuring. His quiet companionship was a balm to her soul, soothing the rough edges of her emotions.

"I'm glad we talked" Jiwon said softly, breaking the silence.

Eunseok turned to her, his eyes warm. "Me too, angel"
