The ear-deafening display of joy and affection was enough to make the grumpiest of souls crack a crooked smile—though it might be hard to tell under all that hard shell and bluster. Despite the mounting pain in her body, the sight of such unabashed revelry brought a loving grin to Nemo's lips. The Whitebeard crew was entirely flabbergasted by Ace's return, the madcap tale he and his brother spun, and the overall absurdity of the situation, which could have easily been mistaken for the plot of an absolutely batshit-bonkers drunk-dream.

"Well, yeah, it's a long story. I'll give you all the details later on! How about that? Ah, see? We communicated using paper notes. Our friend here planned a riot and uh—!"

"We thought we might never see you again, Ace! We thought we'd never drink rum together or lose miserably at cards again—we're so glad you're back!"

"You guys - I'm so sorry - " Fire Fist sobbed, overwhelmed by the fact how easily his actions appeared to be forgiven.

Tears flowed freely, as did the jovial and somewhat overenthusiastic jump-hugging of their beloved commander. It was as if someone had declared an impromptu contest of family-like affection, and everyone was determined to win.
