Grimm?

Chapter 3

Its in the afternoon and you're sitting on your porch when you see Monroe leave. You figure hes got a gig. He shows up not much later with a dude that looks like a beach bum. You walk over as they're just about to close the door. "Hey Monroe." He looks up. You smile at him and he smiles back. "Who's your friend?" The other guy turns around and smiles at you "Im Hap Lasser." You smile back "Im Jean. Its nice to meet you Hap." You shake hands still smiling. Monroe looks between you then asks "You wanna come in Jean?" "Sure. Hap looks like hes got a interesting story and I'd love to hear it."

"Wait so first your brother was killed in an explosion then your house blew up? Are you okay? Do you need a place to stay?" Hap smiles "I'm gonna stay here with my main man Monroe until the detective dudes figure out something." "Thats good. You couldn't be safer than with Monroe. And was one of those detectives named Nick?" "Oh yeah." You nod. You guys talk and hang out for awhile then you head home.

You see Nick pull up outside and open your door and start to head to say hi when suddenly Nick is being pulled through his car window by a female blutbad. Monroe and Hap stop Nick from shooting her. Apparently she's Hap's sister Angelina. Monroe notices you standing there just watching. He motions you over. You come over and Hap says "Hey Jean." "Hi Hap. You okay?" He nods. You turn to Nick "You okay Nick?" "Yeah." You nod.

The woman looks you over then woges. You just watch her waiting for whatever she's gonna do. "Another Grimm!" You look at Monroe "Grimm, that's what people like me who can see you guys is called right?" He nods "Yeah." "Right." You turn back to Angelina who is looking at you with confusion. "You seem confused you have a question Angelina?" "You didn't attack me and don't seem hostile why?" You shrug "I'm not a violent person. Just because I can suddenly see Wesen doesn't mean that changes anything. Wesen are just people with hidden animal faces. The fact that their part animal doesn't change anything in my viewpoint." "What kinda bullshit trick is this?" "No trick I promise. I just suddenly started seeing Wesen faces and if it hadn't been for it being Monroe I first saw woged I might have freaked out a bit more. I grew up alone with no family in the foster system. So I had no clue what the hell I had just seen. Monroe sat me down told me what was happening. I took it pretty well I think considering I thought I was hallucinating." Angelina looks at you skeptical. "You really don't kill Wesen?" You look shocked "Kill? Why the hell would I kill anybody? What kind of person do you think I am? I can't even accidently have a bird fly into my windshield without crying and my heart hurting." "Grimm always kill Wesen for no reason then us being wesen." You get a sad look on your face "That really happens?" Angelina is looking at you like you grew a third eye. "Wow are you sure you're a Grimm?" You sigh "I can see you guys but I don't think I should be called a Grimm. There's gotta be another name for people like me who can see you but aren't like that. I know some people are gonna be afraid of me for no reason when they realize I can see them and it makes me sad." Angelina looks at me again then says "I believe you but if I think you're gonna be a threat I will not hesitate to kill you." You sigh and nod. "Okay."

You head back home when Nick leaves. You cant sleep though so you're watching the stars. You see Monroe running after Angelina with a puppy dog look in his eyes. You know Angelina is Monroe's ex and that makes them running off together like that in the middle of the night make your heart hurt. You feel something wet on your face. You look up. Its not raining. Oh you're crying. You thought you and Monroe had something starting considering last night you were making out on his couch. Guess you were wrong. You glance over at his door and see a pig wesen about to knock on the door. Hap opens it and the pig shoots Hap. You cover your mouth to keep from making a sound. You don't need that gun turned on you. The pig leaves. You rush over to Hap. You fall to your knees when you see the bullet hole on his forehead. You start crying. You sit there for a minute crying over Hap before you pull out your phone and call the police.

Monroe and Angelina finally show up. You cant even look at Monroe or you'll start crying again but not because Hap is dead this time. Nick walk over to you with Hank. "Wu said you called the cops and saw what happened?" You nod. "I couldn't do anything it happened so fast. The guy knocked on the door Hap opened it and then he shot Hap. I knew if I made a noise he'd kill me too. As soon as he left I ran to try to help Hap but then I saw the bullet in his head." "And where were Monroe and Angelina when this happened?" You burst into tears because of the answer. You cant stop crying or calm down. Hank goes to get the emts. Nick looks at you and asks quietly "They were together all night weren't they?" You nod still crying. "Im sorry Jean I know about you having a date with Monroe. He called me asking to make sure i was okay with him asking you out." A fresh bout of tears starts when you think of the date and what happened after.

Hank walks over with an EMT. They talk to you slowly and try to get you to take some deep breaths. You manage to calm down some but then Monroe walks over looking concerned that you're hurt. You burst into tears again. Nick notices Monroe and says "Not the time man just leave her be. Ill talk to you later." Monroe looks at you and you meet his eyes for just a second then let out another burst of crying. Monroe looks at nick who is almost glaring at him and sighs. He finally leaves. And finally you calm down. Nick asks "What did the guy look like?" Hank is standing right there so you answer "I don't know he was wearing a pig mask." Nick nods understanding it was a pig wesen you saw.  Hank asks "A pig mask?" You nod. "Man I've got to tell Wu." Hank leaves to tell Wu. Nick asks "so it was a pig wesen?" "Yeah." "Are you gonna be okay?" "I feel like I just got my heart broken. And I'm scared. What if this guy finds out I saw him and comes to shut me up?" "Why don't we talk to the captain about getting you a personal police guard until we've caught this guy." You nod. You see a man coming towards us. Hes tall even taller than Monroe. "Burkhardt is this the woman who saw it happen?" "Yes Captain." The man turns to you and meets your eyes. Wow the man is handsome. Focus. He says "I'm captain Sean Renard. What's your name miss?" "My name is Jean." He nods. "I would like you to have a police officer with you until we find this killer." "Thank you. I would feel much safer." He locks eyes with you again and smiles softly as he hands you a card. "Call me if you need anything." You nod. "I will." He nods and walk away.

Officer Wu is placed with you for the night. Hes gonna stay on your couch on guard. There's a knock on your door. Wu follows you as you go towards it. You look through the peep hole and it's Monroe.  You wave Wu away.. You almost start crying again but hold it in. "What do you want Monroe?" "Can we talk please Jean?"  You open the door and look at him with hurt and unshed tears in yours eyes. "There's nothing to talk about Monroe. You spent the night with Angelina. No amount of talking can change that. Maybe she's a better fit for you anyway." Monroe sees the hurt on your face and hears it in your voice and he knows he fucked up big time. "She's not a better fit for me. Maybe past me but not now. I had a relapse because of last night. I've worked hard to be who I am today and I don't want to go back. She doesn't fit in my life anymore, she's my past. You fit my life Jean. You're my present and hopefully my future too. I'm so sorry I hurt you and it'll never happen again I promise." You look at how desperate Monroe looks and you sigh. "Monroe how can I trust you if she's still hanging around? You say she's  your past but she's still here. You told me you wanted me then the next night go an sleep with another woman your ex no less. That really hurt me Monroe. You're the first guy I've actually cared about and let into my life since I dated nick 5 years ago and you hurt me bad. I don't know if I can risk letting you back in only for you to hurt me again." Monroe looks like hes about to cry "Please Jean please give me another chance. I promise ill never hurt you again. Ill prove it to you everyday if you'll just let me. Please." You look into Monroe's eyes. He's begging you with his eyes too. You sigh. "You'll have to earn my trust back as my friend first before ill even think about going on another date with you." "I will I promise I will. I can't lose you Jean." You look into his eyes again and see that he's determined. "Go home Monroe we can talk again at another time. And make sure to keep your phone on in case nick needs help." He sighs and nods. You place your hand on his wrist "Im giving you a second chance not many get those and I don't give third chances." He nods "I won't waste it." "Good." Monroe leaves.

Angelina ends up getting away but the pig guy doesn't. Its over. Nick comes and checks on you. "You okay Jean?" "I will be." "And what about you and Monroe?" "Im giving him a second chance. Hes gotta earn my trust back as my friend again before I will go on another date with him." "I'm glad you're giving him a second chance." You nod "I don't give third chances." Nick nods. "I know. I'm glad you're gonna be okay." "You better get home to Juliette." He nods and leaves. You go to bed feeling drained.
