“Amber, Lauren, and Megan, we will meet again at noon on Friday to finalize everything for the first photo shoot that takes place on Tuesday. Make sure you bring the documentation, we spoke about, with you. Thanks again ladies, I look forward to working with you all.” Brielle finished up feeling relieved to get this project moving on schedule.
“Stacey, please call and make sure that we still have the board room at the Marriott booked for the meeting. I will be meeting with the directors of the locations I have booked afterwards to make sure all props needed are approved prior to setting up.” Brielle smiled warmly. “Yes Ms. Andrews, I will call on that right away.” Stacey softly smiled and nodded as she made her way to her desk.
The remainder of the afternoon drifted slowly. Brielle was daydreaming of all the possible work that could be booked as a result of this one job, when suddenly the phone brought her back to realization that she had a task to complete. As she answered, there was a faint sound at first. “Hello? This is Ms. Andrews, how can I help you today?” There was a slight pause, and then a familiar voice started to respond. “Hello Ms. Andrews, I have booked you to be interviewed to coexist with your segment that will be placed in the magazine?” Brielle smiled inwardly as Tanner explained some of the details.
“This is going to be a big deal for the magazine and for you Brielle, but there is one thing you may not like.” Brielle could hear the nervousness in Tanner’s voice with what he spoke of next. “You will be interviewing with Jackson Moore. He is working for one of the largest magazines in the city and this will be huge for us.” Brielle thought about it and knew he was right. She knew that this was a big step but she had to do it to help advance her career. “Tanner, I can be professional and if this is what I have to do, to further my career, I can be civilized until interview is complete.”
Once the call ended, Brielle had to regain her composure as she would be meeting with Jackson on Friday at 7 PM. She thought it was a little unorthodox to meet at such a time, but she also knew there is no such thing as set hours in the business he was involved in.
The week was here and gone in no time. The meeting went well with the models and directors. Once everything on the list had been approved, props and wardrobe was ordered. Friday came at full force like a bull at a red caped matador.
“Ms. Andrews, is there anything else I can assist you with before I leave for the day? Stacey asked softly. “No thank you, I am just finishing up so I can prepare for a meeting I have this evening. You have a great weekend, and I will see you on Monday.” Brielle smiled warmly as Stacey retreated from her office.
“Please let me make it through this interview in one piece” Brielle said to herself. She thought back to when their relationship went south. She spotted Jackson with Tanner’s sister, Tonya, and was said to have a valid excuse as why they were together. Brielle even contemplated hooking up with Tanner as a form of revenge against Jackson and Tonya, once she found out about their affair. Brielle couldn’t attempt it though. They had been too good of friends for way too long to ruin such a good friendship.
Brielle made her way back to her apartment at half past 6, so she had plenty of time to pamper and look exquisite at the interview. She figured she should dress to the nines and walk with an air of confidence that she always waivered when she was with Jackson. “Here goes nothing” sighing as she walked out of her apartment.
Traffic was less hectic than typical Friday evening. The breeze lightly whipped her hair around her face as she stepped out of the car. Looking up, there stood Jackson with a look of affliction on his face. Taking a slow deep breath, Brielle made her way to the door to greet Jackson, and to keep a professional demeanor.
“Hello Jackson, how are you?” Brielle kept the smile contained to just her lips. “Hi, you look great Brielle,” Jackson had to avoid wondering eyes from taking over. It was obvious that he couldn’t stop from looking at Brielle and the change in aura emitting from her.
“Please, ladies first” he stated as he held the door open. The Hostess seated them at a booth near the back of the restaurant to give privacy for the interview. The restaurant was a lightly dimmed Italian place that has been owned by the same family for many generations. The deep maroon and rich velvet colors were off-set by cream colored table cloths. The lit candles encased in crystal centerpiece on the table, and silver lined fine china. This place didn’t disappoint but was to stunning for an interview, especially with an ex-boyfriend.
Brielle decided to break the tension “Where would you like to start?” Jackson hesitated and then requested that they order drinks first. Jackson asked Brielle many questions mostly directed to her photography work and upcoming segment to be published. What surprised her most was being blindsided by what Jackson said next. “Brielle, I just want to tell you how truly sorry I am, and how much I miss you.”
Brielle didn’t know what to say at first and almost lost her ability to breathe the air that surrounded her. “Jackson, I really think we should stick to what we came to talk about. It’s been a few months and I am trying to piece my life back together after what happened.” Brielle held the tears back that threatened to fall. “I know I hurt you but I really need you to know how bad I screwed up and how sorry I really am” Jackson had the signature melt your heart look on his face. “I can forgive but I am not to that point yet. I appreciate you saying what you did, and I can say that will help me move one step closer to forgiveness.” She was thankful he didn’t push the subject further.
Once the interview was complete, Jackson thanked Brielle for her time and parted ways with a quick hug and peck on the cheek. She felt a little uncomfortable with the closeness, but couldn’t let it affect her the way it did when they dated. Walking to her car, she had an uneasy feeling as if she was being watched. Looking around, nothing appeared to be out of the normal for where she was. Once in her car, she locked her doors, started the car and pulled out of the parking lot. As she was making her first turn, she noticed a car that was behind her staying a steady distance behind. There was just something that made her feel like something was off. When the car turned the corner before she made it home, she could now relax.
When arriving at her apartment and walking in the door, she noticed a vase of flowers that didn’t consist of a card or anything of who may have sent them. She wasn't sure if they were for Jocelyn or herself. Brielle talked herself into calling it a night after a crazy week.
