This is the prologue before the MC disappeared and went to train for 3 years. He already passed Final selection with Shinobu and Kanae so this will be the chapter where Kanae dies.

Izaiah's POV:
I was up late getting some late night practice in before I went on a mission with Shinobu and Kanae, my two longest friends, the following day. My gut told me something was gonna happen to one of them, but I didn't know who, so I trained until my arms felt like they were gonna fall off.
Izaiah(mind): gotta keep this up no matter how tired I am... Gotta protect them both..
I kept practicing until I eventually fell asleep outside.
-time skip to the morning-
I woke up what looked like the medical ward of the butterfly mansion.
Izaiah(mind): when did I?...
?????: good your awake.
I turn to the voice and saw Kanae.

Kanae: you fell asleep outside again, when will you break this habit of yours?
Izaiah: I don't know... I guess I trained until I passed out...
Kanae: you do this every time you are injured from a mission... Me and Shinobu are both worried about you.
Izaiah: sorry to make you worry...
Kanae: it's okay, but just try to break the habit of late night training...
Izaiah: no promises, but I'll try too.
Kanae: that's all I ask...
I got out of the medical bed and went into a separate room to change into the demon slayer corps uniform.
