The lights of the city looked like stars, the darkening sky like deep sea trenches. There weren't any stars in the sky, and the only lights were from the two planes that were slowly crawling across the dark plain. A young girl sat just below the clouds, both her legs swung over an old looking broomstick. She watched the city from above, twirling her thick, wavy blonde hair on her index finger. As she was watching, a burst of air from a nearby plane knocked her hat off and it was quickly picked up by the trail of air, the black fabric dancing along the wind. The girl blinked, a second or two passing before she realized what had happened, and then she took off after the plane in a burst of speed, her long hair cascading behind her. When she reached the plane, it had landed in another country, and she had landed about a day later, her hair even messier than before, but her hat was nowhere to be seen. She walked up to a man with messy blonde hair and a green uniform, tapping him on the shoulder.
"Yes?" the man asked, turning around so he could see the girl, and she huffed, placing her hands on her hips.
"Have you seen a black hat? About this big with a white bow around the edge?" she asked, using her arms and hands as a gauge for the size of her hat. The man looked at her, then shook his head.
"No, I haven't. I'm sorry." he said, and the girl sighed, groaning under her breath.
"Are you positive? It was caught on the updraft of your metal can with wings." she said, pointing at his plane, and he blinked.
"You mean my plane?" he asked, and she nodded. "Was it like a witches hat?"
"Yes! Yes it was!" she said, her green-yellow eyes wide.
"Oh, then it fell into the water about halfway across the Atlantic Ocean. Was it special to you?" he asked, and she nodded earnestly.
"A friend gave it to me. At least I didn't lose my mini-hakkero. That could have been bad." she said before walking away, her hands behind her head.
"Oh! Miss, can Iask you a question?" the man asked, jogging up to her, and she spun on her heels.
"Sure. What'ya need to know?" she asked, and the man sighed.
"Are you new here? As in, do you have anyone you're staying with?" he asked, and she shook her head. "You should come to my house then. Don't worry,I'm not a bad person, just an old gentleman."
"You don't look all that old." she said, and he chuckled slightly.
"Thank you, but you'd be surprised! Oh, my name is Arthur. Arthur Kirkland." he said, and she smiled.
"Marisa Kirisame. Nice to meet you, Arthur." she said, and the man smiled.
"So, Marisa, will you take me up on my offer?" Arthur asked, and she thought for a second before shrugging.
"It's not like I have anything else to do." Marisa said, following Arthur to a large limousine.
"Wow! What's this large metal tube called!?" Marisa asked, gaping at the limousine, and Arthur glanced at her.
"You've never seen a limousine before?" he asked, and she shook her head.
"Nope! I'm from WAAAY out there." Marisa said, laughing slightly before getting into the limo.
"Mr. Kirkland? Who is this young girl?" A young-looking man asked, and Arthur smiled slightly.
"Her name is Marisa. I found her wandering around the tarmac of the airport, and decided to take her to my house since she has nowhere to stay at the moment." Arthur said, and the young man nodded before turning to look out the window.
"So, Marisa. Where did you come from? Japan?" Arthur asked, and Marisa shrugged.
"I came from Gensokyo. You probably don't know where that is, though.....oh well, whatever." she said, and his eyes widened.
"Did you say.....Gensokyo?" he asked, and she nodded.
"Yeah. What of it?" she asked, and he waved her off.
"Oh, I thought I misheard you. Is it a nice place?" he asked, and she nodded.
"Very! The trees and plants grow so much taller than they do here!" Marisa said, and Arthur smiled.
"That does sound very nice." he said, and she nodded.
"Much nicer than this place. Oh, no offense Arthur." Marisa said, causing Arthur to shrug.
"It's fine. Oh, so when we get to my house, just relax, and I'll show you to your room, okay?" he said, and she nodded.
"Sounds good. Oh, but there's a small problem." Marisa said, causing Arthur to look at her, his green eyes flooded with surprise.
"Y-Yes?" Arthur asked, and she sighed.
"I'm going to need some help with my stuff." Marisa said, pointing behind her, where a large, brown brief-case-like suitcase had appeared.
"W-Where did that come from?!" Arthur asked, and she looked at him oddly.
"It was here the whole time, silly!" she said, then turned to look out the window.
I know what I saw. That suitcase...just appeared! Arthur thought to himself, turning to Marisa. I have a bad feeling about this girl. She DID say she's from Gensokyo. Isn't that where all the creatures from Japan's myths live? It makes me wonder if she's actually human.....
