During the Age of Heroes, the Orange Rose, often referred to as the Dream Rose, was among the most coveted flowers. It was capable of inducing a blissful dream state in those who slept nearby. Blooming only in the Leilan Gardens during autumn, these roses were very rare, and carefully tended to by the sentient Rosebuds who resided in the Gardens while the Rose Guardian focused on Hero work.
To bring the Darkfall to an end, the Goddess of Darkness sacrificed herself, destroying her and scattering the pieces of her across the universe, which enchanted whatever they came into contact with Dark Energy. One of said pieces reached the Leilan Gardens, tainting the latest batch of Orange Roses, as well as the Rosebuds who nurtured them, transforming them into crystalline Amber Roses. The corruption drove the Rosebuds mad, sending them into a frantic overdrive, obsessed with selling off every single rose in the Leilan Gardens, including the newly formed Amber Roses. Unlike the original Dream Roses, these Amber Roses brought only nightmares, trapping those who slept beside them in an endless, inescapable dream state.
With the Rose Guardian gone, the Leilan Gardens thrown into chaos, and the corrupted Amber Roses out in the world, the very dreamscape itself has begun unraveling into a realm of nightmares.
