Justin had been out running errands, a rare moment when he had stepped away from his responsibilities and let himself enjoy some fresh air. Meanwhile, Regie was busy in their shared apartment, bursting with excitement and a hint of nervousness. He had been planning this surprise for weeks and now, with Justin out of the house, it was time to transform their bedroom into a celestial haven.
As he carefully removed the pack of glow-in-the-dark stars from its packaging, Regie's heart raced. He envisioned the look on Justin's face when he returned home. The stars would blanket the ceiling, a gorgeous reminder of the universe that stretched endlessly above them. He carefully peeled the adhesive backing from each star, placing them in a whimsical design—some clustered like constellations while others twinkled solo as if they were cosmic wanderers.
Next came the lamps. Regie set the moon lamp on Justin's nightstand, its soft light reminiscent of a full moon shining serenely in the night sky. The sun lamp, a vibrant orb filled with warm yellow hues, found its home on the dresser, casting a bright glow, like the first rays of dawn spilling into their room. Together, the two lamps would embody the harmony of day and night—just like their relationship.
He stepped back to admire his handiwork, feeling satisfied with how the room now felt more alive. The stars shimmered against the painted sky of the ceiling, while the lamps bathed everything in a warm, comforting light. Regie couldn't wait for Justin to see it.
With one last touch, he penned a note on a piece of soft blue paper, its color closely resembling the summer sky. Taking a deep breath, he wrote:
"You are my moon, my sun, and all of the stars. So I did this to make sure you always know."
Tucking the note under Justin's pillow, Regie's heart swelled with anticipation. He hurried to clean up the remnants of his project, taking care to hide the evidence of his surprise. Just as he finished, he heard the front door creak open.
"Regie! I'm back!" Justin called, his voice echoing in their cozy home.
Regie's cheeks flushed with excitement, and he moved to the living room, where Justin was setting down the grocery bags. "Hey! Good timing," he said, trying to play it cool even as his heart raced.
Justin's eyes lit up when he caught the glimmer of Regie's smile. "What are you up to?" he asked, raising an eyebrow playfully.
"Nothing much," Regie replied, letting his voice trail off. "Just thought I'd tidy up. You hungry?"
"Starving," Justin said with a laugh, but his eyes darted toward the bedroom. "What's cooking in there?"
Regie felt a flutter of nerves, but he gestured toward the kitchen. "Just some pasta," he said, trying to deflect Justin's curiosity. But the playful sparkle in Justin's eyes said it all—he knew something was up.
After a quick meal filled with laughter and their usual banter, Regie could no longer contain himself. "I have a surprise for you in the bedroom."
Justin's face lit up, his expression a mix of curiosity and eagerness. "A surprise? Okay, now I'm intrigued!" He followed Regie down the hall, excitement radiating from him like beams of light.
When they stepped into the bedroom, Justin froze. His mouth fell open as he took in the sight before him. The glow-in-the-dark stars illuminated like a miniature galaxy overhead, and the moon and sun lamps cast a warm glow around the room. "Regie..."
"I wanted you to know how much you mean to me," Regie said, his voice softening. "You bring light into my life, so I thought you should always have a reminder."
With wide eyes still focused on the ceiling, Justin finally turned to Regie, his face a picture of disbelief and joy. "This is incredible! I feel like a kid again." He stepped closer, wrapping his arms around Regie's waist and looking deeply into his eyes. "You know I love you, right?"
Regie smiled, feeling warmth wash over him. "I do now," he replied. "More than anything."
Justin pulled him in for a kiss, their foreheads touching afterward as they both gazed up at the stars. "You really are my moon, Regie. My sun, and all of the stars," he whispered, his voice filled with tenderness.
And in that magical moment, beneath their galaxy of stars, Regie knew that they were intertwined, two celestial bodies dancing in an endless universe of love.
