Reflections of a Hidden Power

Third Person's POV:

In the Aquara Water Kingdom, where rivers flowed like silver threads under the sun, Princess Arvanya Morrison stood by a crystal-clear lake, her reflection mirroring her tranquil beauty. The cool breeze tugged at her long, cascading hair, shimmering like liquid gold in the soft light of daybreak.

Her deep blue eyes, more vivid than the kingdom's brightest sapphires, sparkled with a blend of curiosity and secrets untold. Those who beheld her often whispered tales of her beauty, but those who knew her well saw past that beauty to the strength of a princess carrying a world of power within.

Today, that power called to her, and with a slow breath, she extended her hand over the lake. The water rippled as if answering her silent call, gathering into a soft wave beneath her fingers. With concentration, she lifted the wave, shaping it into the delicate form of a dragon's head before letting it splash back into the lake. Her powers were a quiet rhythm, breathing and moving with her—a reminder of the life within every element she commanded.

Unlike others in her world, who were bonded with only one elemental dragon, Arvanya had five—each connected to a different force: fire, water, earth, air, and nature. She thought briefly about how the idea of dragons in their world might seem strange to outsiders.

Dragons here were not fire-breathing beasts from tales; instead, they were pure elements, forces kept within each person, granting them a unique connection to the world around them.Arvanya's dragons weren't visible or physical but were tied to the energies she could summon. Her fingers brushed across the lake's surface again, and a soft pulse of light emanated from her fingertips.

The earth beneath her feet vibrated ever so slightly, as though her earth dragon was acknowledging her presence, a silent promise that the ground would always be steady for her.In a moment of whimsy, she lifted her other hand, calling to her air dragon.

The breeze around her shifted, swirling into a gentle whirlwind, carrying a few fallen leaves into a spiraling dance around her. With a laugh, Arvanya flicked her wrist, and the leaves dispersed, floating away softly as the breeze returned to normal.

Her father's voice echoed in her mind:

Never reveal your powers. The world is not ready for them.

Arvanya wasn't entirely sure why, but she trusted her father's wisdom. King Thalor Morrison, ruler of the Aquara Kingdom, knew far more of the world's dark corners, and his caution was a shield for her and their family.

And then, there was her mate—the mysterious person destined to be her other half. The people of her world believed in soulmates, and Arvanya often wondered who hers might be. Would he understand the strength she wielded, or would he fear it? Perhaps he would embrace it like she did, or maybe he would see her as nothing more than a powerful threat.

She laughed softly, thinking of how her father would react if he knew she was out by the lake alone. King Thalor would likely send her brothers charging after her, each wearing the same look of determined worry.

"Oh no," she chuckled to herself, her voice blending with the rustling leaves. "I can just imagine it: 'Where is she? Practicing with her dragons again!' Adrian would be giving me a lecture on responsibility, Thiago would be grumbling about his training schedule, and Luca would just sigh and wonder why I can't stay put."

Her brothers were protective to a fault. Adrian, the eldest, took his duty as a prince and older brother seriously, constantly reminding her of the importance of keeping their family's secret. Thiago, steady and strong, trained with her, helping her master her abilities with a silent pride. And Luca, her closest in age, kept his quick wit and warm heart hidden beneath playful sarcasm, yet he was always watching out for her.
