You yawned. It was six in the morning, and you hardly ever got up that early when you didn't have to. But then your eyes shot open. Today was the day. Today was the day you were going to get into UA. You jumped out of bed and quickly made your bed (which didn't look all that clean considering you threw everything together). You raced into your bathroom and stared into the mirror before rolling your shoulders forward, unleashing your quirk.

You had been practicing and training for months now. After you got over the initial pain of your father passing, which, to your dismay, took years, considering how close you were, you began to train as hard as possible, doing everything you could to prepare yourself for this moment. You let the shadowy tendrils of your wings grab your morning toiletries, preparing your toothbrush for you. You quickly brushed your teeth, definitely not spending two minutes on them, and rinsed out your mouth before brushing your hair and tying it back. You didn't want it to get in the way, especially not today. You finished getting ready, throwing on something athletic with cut open holes in the back to allow your quirk to roam free. You put on your comfortable running shoes before grabbing your phone and earbuds and stuffing them into your pocket. You walked down your staircase to grab something quick for breakfast. As you began to walk out the door, you heard a voice call after you.

"Where do you think you're going?"

You rolled your eyes, and turned toward to your mother. "Entrance exam. Already told you about it." You said, heading for the door.

"Yeah, good luck, you're definitely going to need it, you sorry sack of shit." Your mother insulted.

You didn't pay any mind to her belittlement. You were too excited for what was to come. You trekked out the door and slammed it behind you, not caring about the offended shouts that came from within.

Your house was a 45 minute walk from UA, so you resorted to taking the train. As you approached the station, you could see many more students your age, wearing similar attire, preparing to board.

They must be going to the entrance exam too. You thought. I wonder how many people are going to be there...

You boarded the train, squished between multiple people as the train was quite full this morning. You pulled out your phone and popped in your earbuds. It was about a 15 minute ride, and if you were going to be trapped between so many people, you at least wanted to be entertained. You looked out the window as you listened to your music. Excitement fluttering in your chest and nervousness making your stomach do flips. You couldn't believe this was really happening. Sure, it was just the entrance exam, but because of all of the animosity you received since you were a child because of your quirk, you didn't expect to even get this far.

As the train slowed to its stop, you paused your music and took out your earbuds. You shoved them, along with your phone, back into your pocket, awaiting the chance to finally get off the stuffy train.

You were finally able to clamber off, breathing in a deep breath of the fresh air, before heading to your destination. You were only a few minutes away now, and you could see it faintly in the distance. You flexed your back, balled your hands, and tried to steady your nervous breathing.

It's just the exam, you thought. I have trained for months and months for this very moment. I can do this. I'll be just fine.

As you approached the place where the exam was taking place, your eyes widened. There were an uncountable amount of people here.

My god... how many of us even get in? How much competition do I have?

As you lined up to get your number, you could overhear many other potential students rambling about their nerves, their ego, and other things. You received your number and pinned it to your shirt, walking over to the mass of people who had already gotten their numbers. You stood next to a boy with two different shades of hair.

Hm, that's interesting. I wonder what kind of dye he uses, it looks really natural. You wondered silently.

Before you knew it, a very loud voice announced how the exam was going to work.

Okay, knock down a bunch of high point robots, that can't be too hard, can it?

You cracked your knuckles and unraveled your wings, causing the dual-haired boy to glance at you. You stretched them out for a moment before readying yourself for the exam.

READY?! GO! The loud voice announced.

You shot to the sky, soaring over most of your opponents, immediately looking for 2 or 3 point robots. You found some relatively quickly and used your tendrils to stun them before crashing down on them and using your quirk to knock them down.

QUIRK: SHADOWED FLIGHT

THE USER HAS SHADOW LIKE WINGS, ACCOMPANIED BY LONG, SHADOWY TENDRILS THAT ARE CONTROLLED BY THE USER! WHILE FLYING, SHE CAN MANIPULATE SHADOWS TO CREATE ILLUSIONS OR ENTRAP FOES, MAKING THEM FEEL HAUNTED.

IF SHE OVER USES HER MANIPULATION, SHE GETS WEARY AND HER OWN ILLUSIONS CAN HAUNT HER! SPOOKY!

You had taken two of the robots down, giving you a total of five points, before you heard a sharp scream. You shot your heard toward the direction it came from, and noticed a pink girl trapped in the hands of one of the robots. You noticed how tight its grip seemed, and immediately took to the skies to help her.

"HELP ME! I'M TOO YOUNG TO DIE!" The pink girl shouted.

You flew next to her, hovering at her side. "I'm gonna yank this ugly thing's hand off of you, and catch you when you fall, got it?!" You told her.

"YOU'RE GONNA DROP ME?!" She shrieked.

"No! I'm going to catch you! Didn't you hear me?" You realized she was probably too panicked to understand what you were saying, so you went ahead and shot three of your tendrils at the machine's hand. You grunted as you used a lot more strength than you anticipated to tear its hand open. But finally, it released the girl, and she began falling to what she thought was her death.

"I DON'T WANT TO DI-" She was cut off as she was grabbed out of the air. She looked to see her hero, and made eye contact with you.

"Are you okay, Pinky?" You smiled, amused at her fearful reaction.

"Oh my gosh thank you so much for saving me! I owe you the world!" She wailed, as she clung onto you.

"It's nothing, it wouldn't have actually hurt you, you know." You chuckled.

"Oh."

You let out a snort as you placed her on the ground, nodding at her before taking off. You were able to find a few more robots that hadn't been defeated yet, but they were only worth one point. As the exam came to an end, you couldn't help but feel defeated.

You sighed as you began to walk to the train station, your head down, and your hands in your pockets. You thought you were going to take down way more robots, but saving that pink girl took priority. You felt disappointed as you watched your chances of getting into UA slip away.

You got home, and stalked up to your room, ignoring your mother's sneers at your expression. You showered and climbed into your bed, plugging in your earbuds once again. You tucked yourself underneath all of your blankets, pillows, and a few of your childhood stuffed animals, and let the music lull your drained and disheartened mind to sleep.
