"what is love?" 〃 zhang hao

chapter five

the group of five friends happily walked to the arcade as the three guys jostled with one another. as for the two girls, they were giggling as they took photos and videos of the boys.

"oh my gosh hao stop shoving me"

"don't disrespect your seniors"

"you just revealed that you are old"

"the blasphemy." 

yurim simply chortled as she continued filming the trio. just then, mei pushed the groups towards the arcade.

"FASTER GUYS I WANNA PLAY!" she cheered as she rushes into the arcade.

the remaining four people laughed before running after mei. laughter could be heard outside before the sound of four footsteps rushed into the arcade.

[time skip]

"yuxi, do you wanna play basketball with me?" hao turned around and smiled sweetly at yurim, though there was a hint of teasing in his expression. yurim rolled her eyes the sound of that name. yuxi was yurim's Chinese name given by hao, which yurim treasured deeply. yuxi meant night tide, which reminded them both of that one magical evening when they sat on the beach, watching the waves sway gently beneath the moonlight.

yurim shakes her head, snapping out of her thoughts, and nods, a wry smile on her face.

"yes, and prepare to lose."

hao rolls his eyes at her, and returns the smirk.

"not before you lose to me."

the two begin to play the arcade game, and much to yurim's annoyance (and hao's elation), his score climbed higher and higher. in an attempt to tilt the odds in her favor, yurim began to shove him lightly while still managing to rack up points.

"yah you know that's cheating?" hao said in mock indignation as he started tickling yurim, all while continuing to score.

yurim started giggling as she inched away from hao, to no avail.

"OKAY OKAY IM SORRY," she squealed as she swatted hao's hand away. hao simply smirked, his playful expression making yurim's stomach do a backflip.

"what the hell was that?" the young girl thought to herself as she shook her head, going back to the game.

inevitably, hao won. yurim pouted, jealousy simmering beneath her playful exterior as she began to rant.

"this isn't fair! you're way taller than me, and you're more athletic, and—" she was cut off when hao gently pressed a finger onto her lips, silencing her. stunned, she simply stared at hao in shock as he turned around and walked toward the next game, leaving  yurim rooted to the ground, completely flustered.

"Y-Y-YAH W-WAIT FOR M-ME!" she stuttered, face flushed as she scrambled after hao.

unbeknownst to the pair, there were three people quietly observing from a distance.

"i did not know that hao could be so... lovey-dovey," mei whispered to yujin and ricky as they nodded in response.

"yeah, i have never see noona act like this before. she's usually so composed," yujin murmured back, his voice tinged with surprise.

"honestly though, the both of them look cute together," ricky added, keeping an eye on the 'couple'. when he was certain that hao and yurim were gone, he stood up, stretching his sore legs. the other two followed suit, stretching their stiff limbs.

"ugh finally! that made me so sore," mei groaned as yujin nodded sympathetically. the trio hobbled away, still playfully stalking the two lovebirds from a distance.

this chapter was a small fluff chapter and i enlisted the help of my bestfriend and chapgpt because i can't write loving scenes lol
