The night wind howled fiercely, causing the soft velvet fabric at the entrance of the shelter to billow outward.

The officials watched Xu Zhen cautiously, fearing she might have any missteps.

Around them, several people continuously sized up Xu Zhen.

There were many familiar faces, including those who had previously thanked her, as well as the head of the academy and students, and even the princess.

The princess appeared quite childlike, about the same height as the younger Xu Qianchun. Her face was lightly made up, giving her the appearance of a water lily-completely unlike an ordinary refugee.

When she reached the city wall, she looked around searching for Xu Zhen. Once she spotted her, she immediately walked over and asked, "Are you going to see the Emperor again?"

Her clean disguise made her stand out in stark contrast against the crowd.

Xu Zhen wasn't very familiar with the princess but nodded in acknowledgment.

The princess raised her sleeve with a smile and said, "Be careful."

Xu Zhen replied with confusion, "Careful of what?"

The princess mentioned, "My brother dislikes Hu people. He hasn't come to capture her yet, but he might come after her another day."

Xu Zhen pondered for a moment, shocked at the thought that the Emperor might take the opportunity of her audience to capture Xu Qianchun.

That simply wouldn't do!

She was just about to ask if she could bring Xun Qianchun with her to the audience.

Suddenly, the princess asked, "I heard the Taiwei gave you great respect?"

Xu Zhen nodded.

The princess smiled and inquired, "Do you know why?"

Xu Zhen answered, "Isn't it because I contributed to disaster relief?"

The princess stood up, giving her a mysterious glance before stating slowly, "Of course not. Also, I contributed this time as well."

Xu Zhen recalled asking the princess for help in settling the people of Chang'an before leaving the palace, and after that realization, it didn't come as a surprise. She thanked her, saying, "Good deeds bring good rewards; you'll definitely live a long life."

The princess scoffed coldly, "Do you still believe in that? I don't need to live a long life-why would anyone want to live a long life? By the way, why are you so convinced that the heavy rain in Chang'an will lead to flooding?"

Of course, it was because of the system's reminders.

Xu Zhen cleared her throat twice and avoided the question without answering.

The princess asked again, "Tell me, or I might reveal that you think the Hu person should become Emperor-" Suddenly, she seemed to have a realization, looking up at Xun Qianchun. Upon seeing her appearance and eye color, she broke into a radiant smile, "So that's how it is."

Xu Zhen, sitting beside Xun Qianchun, had no idea what the princess had realized.

The princess went on, "Though I'm young, I'm well aware of the many unsavory occurrences within the palace. I'm not so naive that I can't handle them. So why are you trying to deceive me by pretending this Hu person is merely a child?"

Xu Zhen hadn't yet reacted to this.

The princess looked at her, stood up, and quietly smiled again, saying, "No wonder you think she could become Emperor. In your eyes, isn't she perfect in every way?"
