"Sorry I'm late!" I gasped out, panting for breath while clutching my knees as I stood in the door of my first class of high school's first semester. The professor gave me a dirty look as I stood up and made my way into the far back of the class, dropping my bag into the furthest empty seat from the teacher's desk. The professor then continued talking, seemingly taking the attendance. "Kim Minji!" he yelled in a raspy voice. "Here!" I shouted back, before slumping back onto my desk and burying my head into my hands. This was going to be a very long day.

I woke to a sharp rapping noise that seemed to be coming from beside my head. I jolted awake, my head slamming against the back of my chair. I could feel my face heating up as I heard heard sniggering all around me. "Class isn't for sleeping, Ms. Kim. Please sit up straight and pay attention." a sharp voice said. "Sorry," I muttered, my face still crimson with shame. I looked up, met with an image of a woman of stature. She surveyed me with dismay, before crisply straightening her posture and saying, "As this is your first offence, I will let this pass. But consider yourself warned, I will not accept this kind of behavior in my classes again."

I sighed, finally getting up from my seat and stretching myself. It had been an hour, a horrendous hour that was now finally over. The strict woman was Mrs. Hyuna, I had learnt, and she was despised by all in the school. We had break in an hour, and the older students had prepared a celebration for us, welcoming us to high school.

They made us sit in rows in the school's amphitheater, as they set up the massive stage for us. The performance began with a dance, a dance performed by the students of Grade 10. They formed some kind of arrow-like shape, holding different colored ribbons. A girl holding purple  ribbons caught my eye, though. The way she moved, smiled at the audience, the way she looked so pretty in those black overalls, the way she actually enjoyed performing the dance, basically everything.

That was the day.

That was the day I fell for her

The day I fell for Kang Haerin.
