everything felt so painful. his eyes were heavy with exhaustion, his heart shattered into pieces. every breath hurt, and the only escape jeongguk could find was in intoxication, hoping it would dull the agony that coursed through him like poison. with every drink, he begged for the world to blur, for the memories of taehyung to fade, even if just for a moment.

one week without taehyung felt like an eternity. every second dragged on in torment. he couldn't bear it, but even dying seemed impossible, unreachable.

his heartache had numbed him to the point of feeling nothing but an empty, hollow ache. god knows who called sia that night after his brutal breakup with taehyung, but she and yoonji had shown up, always there in his apartment, watching over him like guardians against his self-destruction.

but jeongguk didn't want guardians.

he wanted to be alone.

the walls of his apartment suffocated him, haunted by the lingering presence of taehyung. the scent of his cologne still faintly clung to the cushions, the sight of his jacket left behind, a painful reminder that he had once belonged there. that they had once belonged to each other.

jeongguk hadn't cried. not yet. he couldn't. his chest felt too tight, his throat closed off as if his body refused to release the flood of tears. instead, he wanted to scream, to let the world know that his heart was breaking, that taehyung had taken a piece of him the day he walked out.

and now that piece was gone, leaving a gaping void that no amount of alcohol could fill.

he didn't just want taehyung. he needed him.

taehyung was his entire world, and now that world had been ripped away from him.

so, the moment jeongguk saw sia and yoonji busy in the kitchen, he slipped out the door, unnoticed. he had to escape. if he couldn't have taehyung, then at least the alcohol would do its work, drowning the unbearable weight of living without him.

the burning liquid was the only thing that numbed the screaming ache in his chest, but it wasn't enough.

his legs barely carried him as he staggered down the street, every step wobbling. his vision blurred, not just from the alcohol but from the constant stream of tears running down his face.
