"You know, most people when traveling alone are normally traveling alone for two reasons." The old man had brought over some firewood and placed it into the fire place
"They're either seeking atonement for their past wrongdoings or they are out for revenge on such a lonely road."
"So tell me, young man, what brings you all the way out here" the old man starts a fire in the fireplace
"Believe it or not, i'm not searching for anything too grand. I'm just someone with a sense of adventure."
"Oh is that all?" the old man lifted an eyebrow, skeptical of my answer.
"It's the whole truth, honest"
"Well then, if you have any, care to share a couple tales of your journey so far with this old man. I haven't had much company or much to do within these past two weeks" He must've been referring to his recently deceased wife, he didn't tell me directly but i could see a wedding ring on his finger, and the chair i'm currently sitting on isn't the kind a guy would normally have for himself. But not just that, when I got here he seemed to have a look of sorrow, the kind that comes from grieving. "Sure, what better way to pass the time during this storm than sharing a couple of tales" And so, time went by as I told the old man of my recent adventures, I think i was able to tell him at least three stories before he was fast asleep.
I was hoping i'd make it to Resox before this storm picked up but then I realized my flute was missing before i even entered this forest, actually can I really say missing? More like it was stolen by one of the kids in a village I had recently been to. When I told them we'd meet again, they'd make sure of it knowing I'd come back for my flute. I spent a good two hours chasing that kid around before I actually got my flute back. Not that I was upset at the kid or anything, but that small detour really slowed me down and before I knew it I was caught in the storm. I really wonder what Resox is like. I gazed out the window at the storm outside.
Resox, a kingdom up North, ruled over by a king. I hear the place isn't too special but I'm not really going there for sightseeing anyway. A couple of days ago I received a letter, which isn't exactly an everyday occurrence for someone who travels a lot, it's rare for people to even know where I'd be, but someone found me. The letter told me to come to Resox, they never told me why, which only piqued my curiosity further.
The next day arrived and the storm had passed. "Alright time to go" I swung my black jacket over my shoulders and put on my pointy hat "Are you sure you don't want anything to eat before you go?" the old man standing by the door asked, he's probably asked me that probably three times this morning "Eh i'll survive, I'll eat first thing when I get to Resox" The old man now having a look of curiosity at the mention of Resox "Resox you say? That's not normally a place travelers like you go to for fun, so is there something in particular there?"
"Not really, i'm just going to meet someone" I put my brown boots on.
"I see, well allow me to give a place of recommendation" I guess he's been there before "i'm listening"
"You should try the Red Tavern, they have the best drinks" My eyes widened with shock after hearing Red Tavern "N-no way that's where the Red Tavern is?!"
The Red Tavern is a place that is very popular yet somehow nobody really knows its location. If I remember correctly someone is always saying it's in one kingdom but then someone else says that it's in an entirely different place.
"My memory's not as good as it once was but if it's Autumn it should be in Resox" the old scratches the back of his head "Wait but what does the season have to do with the taverns location?" this old guy has clearly been around "Oh it's nothing you should worry about" he opened the door "O-K then, thanks for letting me wait out the storm here' I walked through the door and before i passed the houses fence the old man asked "Young man, might you be...a Mage?" I thought that was pretty obvious from the hat "Yes, I am KRAGELIOS: THE CRIMSON EYED MAGE" the old man smiled at my over the top introduction "It was very nice meeting you Kragelios" "Likewise" I waved goodbye and continued my journey to Resox.
